View Full Version : Determining Standards

We really need to come up with some sort of standards that we can agree on. Maybe then we can restore some respect. I don't know if you guys have noticed or not, but unless a person runs another script site, they don't want to trade with us.

Tell me what you all think: let's make this a standard rule for all of our pages: no limit on number of consoles, but they have to be ONE AT A TIME. I think this would make relations with other webmasters a lot better, and is not a lot to ask. That's going to be my rule from now on, and if most of us can agree to that, then we can force the rest of the CJ sites into following the rule (unless they want to lose half their trades). Also, let's not prompt to make our pages people's start pages. Is there a point in that? Who in the hell wants to start their browsing at a circle jerk script site with 15 consoles?

Whether you agree or not, let's discuss it and at least come to some sort of agreement.

Well i think it will be very very hard to change a webmasters way of doing a site..
i have an idea you can try?? this will make it easy for the veterans and newbies..mainly
newbies... go make an example site-s..on how you think it should run? full size window..
bla bla resize-tool bars and so on...you will have to give out java codes and so on to how you or anyone here is going to conform to this type of rule....

just my 1 cent....

heh, man, i'm with krister on this one.
PEOPLE:
It's javaSCRIPT and not java. They are two completely different things, and completely unrelated except for name. javascript was originally called "livescript" when it was being developed by netscape, but was renamed to "javascript" at the last minute. It really has NOTHING to do with java :)

re what flying monkey's saying:
yeah, good idea; one at a time consoles are fine by me.. and yeah, the start page.. maybe if we had some actual content, heh, but doing that is just irritating to most people, and slows down your page loading with the <iframe> stuff. I would think it would actually detract from outclicks, but i can't be sure.
If anybody is doing this with success, let us know :)

laters!

one console at a time is fine.
not forcing a startpage is a good idea too.
imho, i dont want repeat surfers. i want them to sign up with my sponsors to get the porn that they're looking for :-)

what about sites that opens more than one site/page per-click?
I dont scripttrade with them, I link them to pages that play the toplists.

bottom line is that i cant/wont tell someone how to build their own site. but i can choose who or who not to trade with.

How about forming a fair traders Co. (-: maybe one of the more or more of the experienced webmasters could draw up an standard agreement about things like console use etc. To try to get a foundation to work from. A lot of the people I talk to are newbies including myself without guidance it is easy to make a mistake. At the end of the day we are all doing this for the same reason to make the internet a great palce to get free porn Oh no sorry $$$$.

I personally spend aboit 90% of my time on the net trying to learn new things I am always surpised how much there is to learn so how about a little guidance it the RIGHT direction to stop people opting for multi pop ups and java full sites.

If it is possible to beat out a fair format to work from you can stick my name down.

Happy trading

My take on it is. We cannot tell people what to do. Freedom of choice is important but we can make it more beneficial for people to reduce the number of consoles and improve trade between a non/low console environment. What I suggest is a scoring system going on the links list that I carry on my site which is updated by anthony.

http://adultwebmasterinfo.com/ucj/trade.html

If you're not on the list get anthony to add you :-)

Here is my idea which needs major work/ discussion
Console Free site starts with 10 points
Entry console worth -1 point
Each exit console is worth -1 point
Perhaps java resize -1 point
Full Screen Exit -4
Multiple windows opening with one click -4

etc etc

Sorry I could see how it could of been seen as trying to say tell people how to run their site it was not meant to read like that. I was suggesting that people who wish to agree to run their sites within certain guidelines I.e. console use as say these should be guidelines and not saying this is how your site will be. I do think it would be fair to put down certain rules for joing i.e. not having multiple pop ups loading a page over someone elses etc.

Of course you have a free choice to join or not and this would not stop me trading with sites not on the list it would just mean they would know there are certain things I will not do.

I love the idea of the scoring sites would it be possible for someone to explain why some traffic is worse than others, maybe it would help some of us newbies get a better grip of what sort of traaffic we are sending. I was surpised (and I know this is just suggsted points) that an exit console would be -1 and a full page exit console -4 is the traffic that much worse?

looking for guidance I want to put $$$ in my pocket not take it out of yours (-:

Happy trading

Ok, if anyone doesn't mind, I'll go ahead and start a Scoring system based on the above criteria.

I'll put it up for everyone to see and give feedback.

I don't want to be misunderstood here. My original intent in this thread was NOT to tell any webmaster how to run their site. The problem is that a small percentage of script sites are giving the rest of us a bad name by crashing browsers with consoles, opening more than one site on one link, etc, and this is the reason that none of us can get trades anymore with sites outside of our own kind.

We can't tell any webmaster how to run his or her site, but we CAN make rules on our own sites determining who we're willing to trade with. If a large percentage of us can come to an agreement on some standards for our rules pages, then the people who want to crash browsers won't have anybody to trade with, and we can start restoring some of the respect that we started out with.

Yep guys, Jan beat me to the post cyclejerk.com has such a scoring system in place... but lets not start bitching about cyclejerk.com.

Donger, totally man, its infuriating when people confuse the two.

I don't wanna put a downer on things, but its not going to happen. We tried and tried months ago, remember trying to set a date by which things should be clean? We even had sponsors tightening their rules <- this is the only way to regulate the sites, with the sponsors.

Its stupid, if ALL the exit brokers stopped their bitchin' and worked together on this one thing then the traffic that THEY get would be better quality. If all exit brokers turned around and said, "no popups allowed, and we must be your only exit" the CJ sites would be pretty much forced to all comply.

That is of course if people still use exit brokers, i think many do.

How about it exit brokers?

Rich.

Exacly Killah & Rich.
We have already scoring systems, and beside that everyone can "score" a site on his own.

I dont think it would be of any help to get another ranking list.

Also the top notch scripts tell you everyday whose traffic is worth what.

Another list wont help us anymore.

Thats a thread by Tim, with the same system he posted on this thread.

Its an age old problem, and one that aint gunna be solved.

No ranking list and no rules from a group of people will ever change something in this bizz, that's what I have learned from the past. It's still all about money and on that point where the money stops, the webmasters start changing their sites.
Respect, nice warm feelings or whatever don't pay bandwith bills or the jewels for the girlfriend. The fact that 80% of the webmasters think in these days that it's a business of dialers, there is not the possibility to regulate the sites like the traffic brokers did some months ago, dialers have no rules.
But I'm sure in 1-2 months there will be new ideas like the upcomming audio-sponsors that MIGHT set new rules that the webmasters HAVE to follow or they can't make cash.
It's a waste of time to think about this "new good system" again if there are not the people behind it that make the world go round, the sponsors.
