I am not going to accusse anyone but to me it looks like http://www.picwarehouse.com/bs.html looks just like my Brittney Spears table at http://www.ridex.com, like I said before you have to keep your page fresh, there is always someone else out there wanting your idea.

I hate to sound like an ass, and I think I've been really cool to everybody, but this post sort of pisses me off, so I have to respond.

Over the past couple of years, I've done a lot of trading with Shap, and I've seen a lot of innovations come from his sites. I've also seen a lot of people steal his ideas.

Also, I remember when the first script site was created, and I felt a bit guilty when we stole the idea. Of course, I don't feel guilty now because everyone is doing it. At the time, it was just us and the other site.

Also, I remember when I came up with this idea to make my console look like a directory listing. That's not to say that I was the first to do it, but it sure seemed like an original idea when I thought of it, and now almost all of us are using the idea. But I haven't bitched.

The thing that I've come to realize is that this business is a constant process of someone coming up with a new idea, and everyone else taking it. I get pretty pissed off when someone steals my entire page, but as far as ideas go, I would be a hypocrite to get upset over someone borrowing one of mine. So let's count how many ideas you've stolen. You run a script site, you're blind-linking using Brittney Spears's name (you're not the first), your page looks like a tgp (not very original), and hey, your table at the bottom of the page looks almost EXACTLY like the table I've had for months at the bottom of http://www.sexediton.com/. How about that!

The only reason for me getting upset is that Shap is a veteran, and a really cool guy, and I don't want to see his name publicly smeared on an active message board over something so silly. People are way too quick to judge, and when they do, they are WAY too quick to make it public. If you really have a problem with his Brittney Spears table looking like yours, send him an email and tell him so. Don't publicly denounce his credibility as an innovative webmaster.

By the way, don't take this all personally. This is a general rant, and the anger in it is an accumulation of all of the negativity and pointed fingers I see. We ALL need to learn to talk to the person that we have a problem with BEFORE we make it public for everyone to read about.

Hey Ride, or whatever your name is, why don't we keep this stuff private. You emailed me and I responded 30 seconds after I got it and now you go post this in public. Dude I don't think that is a smart idea. We can rectify the situation on are own without involving everybody in the world. As was mentioned on the web new webmasters jump to conclusions really quickly and having my site listed as a negative thing is something I do not appreciate.

Thanks flying monkey for defending me. I have been around for 3 years now and I am the originator of many of the linking techniques you guys are using. I find it funny that for the past 3 months every tom dick and harry is making a bundle with Cyber Erotica from MY ADS!!!! I never once emailed anyone however a large majority of sites that I go to are using my "NO MORE BULLSHIT" ad or some similar variation of it. This is one of the downfalls of the web. I put something up that is original and somebody takes it exactly or improves it and does better then I do. Ride get used to it. Sure I am admitting to the whole world I took your little ILLEGAL Britney Spears thingy. I didn't put it on my main page or anything I put it on a small not highly visited sub page. I was using it as a test and put it up very quickly. Took no time to change it because I was simply testing. Now you jumped to conclusion or whatever get all pissed off because I stole your little thing. Calm down bro and learn to settle things between each other before getting the whole world involved.

I would like to ask that this whole topic be erased as it is not fair for my site involved with a negative remark without allowing myself to explain my situation to this Ridee person.

Flying Monkey how is that smearing his name on a public message board. Did I say one thing negative about him or his site? No. Did I say in the topics "I think..." Yes. And did the first line say "I am not accussing..." I just put down what I saw. I did not bad mouth anyone, nor would I bad mouth anyone unless they cheated or ripped me off. Thanks

The point I'm trying to make is that before you go public with a personal dispute, you should at least try to communicate with ther person who is involved first. Nobody wants their name posted in a negative way on a public board, especially one that most of the people they trade with visit on occasion. You did specifically say that you weren't accusing anyone, but why did you even have to bring it up for everyone's eyes on this board instead of waiting on a personal response from Shap? I don't see what you gain by even posting that here, whether you felt it was negative or not.

But like I said, the words in my post weren't 100% directed toward you. They're directed at all of the people who are so quick to flame other people. We need to stop and think before we go public with shit.

And as personal advice, keep in mind that Shap has accumulated quite a large number of friends in the industry over the past few years. Being successful in this business depends on making friends, not enemies, and Shap can be a really good friend to have, or a really bad enemy. If I were you, I would choose friend. My own success has been 100% dependent on the friends I've made in the business.

I know this thread is old but .. just wanted to add a few comments. Unless you get a patent for something .. it's free reign.

Many of us are going to come up with novel ideas from time to time. The nature of this business is that is it is FAST .. people are QUICK to emulate, imitate, and plain out copy.

We all accept that .. hell there've been probably a dozen ideas I've had in the past 6 years that doubled my income automatically .. then .. someone else used itwithin a mointh or two and suddenly the novelty wore off and income plummeted back to the stage before.

And so it is .. the earlier you realize this, the less stress-free you're going to live. If we all could keep anyone from using any of our little ideas, our web pages would be empty.

Yeah .. it sucks to do something really clever and make some dough from it .. but only for a short period of time.
