I'm thinking of shooting my own content, and have finally settled on the sony 5 megapixel DSC-F707 Cybershot Digital Camera.

Does anyone currently own this camera, and have opinions as to whther it is suitable for shooting content?

I got quite a fat check this month so I'm thinking of investing some money in a digital camera, plus anyway it's not that expensive, merely $742 with fedex 2 night shipment.

Please post your opinions or reviews, I would also like to know the opinions of current content producers, on which camera they use. I'm also interested in getting a digital camcorder to shoot movies, any recommendations, I was thinking of getting the panasonix Dv701.

Very sweet camera. I can't believe the battery life. My old digital camera under flash mode wouldn't even fill a memory card before asking for a new battery.

Gotta get a new one

Cyberzen - let me know how you do with that camera. I have been toying with the idea of either the Sony DSC 707 or the Cannon Powershot G2. Only thing that put me off the Sony is those damn memory sticks

Bullshit SONY cams do not suck!!

I took this photo below with my 1.3 Mega Pixels Sony Mavica and its better then some shit you get from content providers. I think the Sony cams are great but the access speed on mine is the only downside (approx 5 sec) i should have gotten the CDWR instead of mem stick.

I have owned 3 Kodak and 1 Sony i would buy another Sony, Kodak or even a Cannon myself they are all good brands. Its all about the features you want to have on your camera and the one i have came with the features i wanted and the price i was looking to pay.

Btw this pic is resized and compressed to 85% so the quality is actually better then this sample.

Agreed toker, I've had the DSCF55E for over 2 years, the very first mem-stick powered Sony.
Over 2 years of faultless performance, good quality images out of a 2.1 megapixel camera.

Sony now have memstick ported CD burners, so you can slot your stick and burn to CD with minimum of fuss.

I do like the look of that 6 megapixel Fuji tho the fact you can change lenses being the only real, and yes major, advantage over the Sony F707.

Buy with confidence Cyberzen.

I don't want to seem like an idiot with this question, but oh well. This camera can do video and not just imaging, correct?
they do ... I have had one (now got new Olympus), friends of mine have some and all of them have the same problem with batteries and charger

quote:
Originally posted by toker:
Bullshit SONY cams do not suck!!

I took this photo below with my 1.3 Mega Pixels Sony Mavica and its better then some shit you get from content providers. Dunno maybe it was a bad model but mine works great i got 2 batteries and no probs so far.

One thing about these types of batteries they have strong memory so the more you charge they can go bad. Always drain the battery totally before charging or each time you will get less charge over time.
