i've been trying to take screecaps of mpegs the oldfashion way, PrntScrn, but unfortunately this doens't work most of the time, and I get a black space where the video screen should be, both with WMA and Real Player.
I'm guessing the next best thing is a video editing program that can take screenshots. Can anyone suggest such a program that isn't a huge download?
Thanks in Advance,

Wasn't there an extensive post on this matter a few weeks ago? Try searching the board.

I used to have it too, but when I did the screenshot when the movie was playing in photoshop I didn't get the black part. So I mean when you take the screenshot when your photoshop is in the back you shouldn't get the problem.

Yes, same thing. I capture with Paint Shop Pro, and you just need to load PSP behinde your player and you shouldn't have any problems capturing it with PRT SC.

Hey guys,
I tried to find the thread you were talking about. I found some old thread from december which wasn't very helpfull. I tried having Photoshop behind WMA, having nothing behind WMA when I do PRRNTSCRN, I've tried Alt-Prntscrn, I always get the black background instead of the movie.
I downloaded snaggit to take the screenshots, the problem is that the image quality is way down. This quite frustrating.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Try a program called hi-jack..

vcdcutter
It captures the screen but not the player.
I gives you a good quality shot of the movie.

I've had this problem before too. For me, I just had to wait a few seconds after I paused the movie on its spot to take the screenshot. So try it like 3 times, or just wait 20,30 seconds after you pause the mpeg, then printscrn and see if that works.

I got the same blackout problem with vcdcutter, but I got it to work with MyFlixPro, even tho the screencaps are small and cannot be zoomed in.

Perhaps try pausing the movie to increase the quality unsure really if this will help but i'm sure it will increase the quality and you could properley pause it where you want anyhow.
Hope this helped
