like the topic said... i spend 96 percent looking around talking to people then actually doing the actual work like layouts making links learning graphic etc the reason for that is feel very lazy doin layouts so i wind up doing reasearch most of the day... i feel like am wasting my time here but many people said that researching is the key to success but is researching way too much can be bad? does anyone here has that probleM?

dammit doin layout sucks, might as well steal other people layout =)

Its a pretty common problem for lots of poeple, at least thats what I hear and read - thats why I am hardly ever on ICQ (I wont get anything else done). Lots of poeple try to make a schedule or a list and make themselves do whatever they need to do first before reading the boards or whatever. I try to do a couple of galleries, updating and reviewing for my sites - or work on building something else before venturing out, or do a gallery then treat myself to surfing boards - here or wherever for awhile, and then I go back to what I need to get done. We work online and surfing can be addictive - so its all a matter of self discipline - I could still be better at not surfing and getting sidetracked... But I'm better than I used to be.
And the more layouts you do, the more you will enjoy it, at least thats what happened for me, or you will find something you really enjoy and thrive in that area - I used to hate building galleries - I enjoy it now. Plus you dont make any money by not doing - I learned that pretty quik...

i know what your saying cam... maybe thats what i should do too... the problem with me is i hate doin layout cause am not very good at it and its a pretty repetitive work, i could be making 3 times am making now if i had a plan... ill start a schedule soon, thanks for the reply

Well I think i do research now for 2 years... ahum.. i mean i spent more time to do research then working on my site. And last week i finally got the discipline to work on it, changed the layout and damn.. my prod. dropped like hell... maybe back to do research then..

Well serious.. i think its good to do research, but as cam said you must have self discipline. Doing some research is good, but doing over research isnt.. Its easier to say then to do but if you want a site, and especially a big site the you must start sometime to make that site. Doing only research will bring you maybe some (good) ideas, but whitout typing any letter you will never finished a site..

I have got to be the worse person on here with wasting time, to be truthful I really dont know how I do it. I probably only really do anything but once or twice a week as far as actual doing something. I spend 99.9% of my time just looking at stats (trafffic stats and money stats) and after looking over stuff all day I might make a small tweak here an there at the end of the day to maximize hits or money. I think over time I have become almost too skilled at what I do for my own good. Before I used to be online 10-15 hours/day working non stop, talking to people all day trying to get the most out of my traffic, redesigning 3 times a week. Now it seems I get too content at a certain level, I NEED A BOSS, HAHAHAHA.

Yeah, I'm the same way. I used to check my stats a lot, not so much anymore, maybe because they aren't as good anymore:O(

A lot of times I check this board as a way of procrasting and tricking my concscious mind with being okay with it, it's as if im doing something productive, but i really am not. I have a lot of ideas, which are all waiting in a long line to be implemented.
