View Full Version : Is there a proggy to find TEXT in a directory of pages?

I like to just poit the script to a dir. of 100 pages and find pages containing certain words. <br /><br />Great forum for info here. <br /><br />Thanks fr your helps!

Explorer does that one. Hehe. Just press F3 for search. If you have the files on your HD I think ultra edit will find the text for you.

MikeG, the find program that is part of windows CAN find text IN a document. <br /><br />On Win98 open up find, and then click on the "Advanced" tab. It may be different on<br />other versions of windows.

If you're on a *nix system, the 'grep' command is probably all that you need.

As for the comment about Windows, just go:<br /><br />Start, Find, Files or Folders, Containing Text.<br /><br />Works in Win98 anyway.
