i just got the latest update from web-legal, and this was above the content. i thought it was worth reading, so here it is!

*** Hidden Messages?

If you watch the news (especially the online news) the way I do, then you have probably caught the info about, eh, "certain religious-oriented terrorist groups"allegedly
using a technology called "Stegography" to pass secret info from one member to another.

Supposedly, they are imbedding their dastardly plans into photos, uploaded them
to websites, and then their cohorts use their secret decoder ring (oops, sorry, their stegography encryption programs)to extract this secret data. Kind of like a Digimarc but really really long, I suppose.

OK, lets sweeten the pot a bit... the people that are sayingthat this is happening are trying to say that the data is being passed out in, among other places, adult websites.
Supposedly, one conspirator uploads the data where otherscan find it and then decode it.

Is it just me, or are there a few flaws here? [1] Random people can't upload to websites normally. You have to havethe password/UserID to access the account.
[2] Just how muchuseful info are you going to be able to pack into this .jpgfile without it being relatively obvious anyway?
[3] The concept of a bunch of religious zealots using adult material to pass microscopic messages to each other has GOT
to be a scream! http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/smile.gif

I have this scenario in my head... Religious Terrorist "A" is surfing the net, looking at a good adult site, when one of his superiors walks into the room, and starts reading
him the riot act... but "A", quickly thinking, tells his superior that he's not crusing for porn, he's actually passing secret attack plans to defeat the evil Satan U.S.,using their own rank corruption as the method of delivery.Thinking about this, the terrorist leader then congratulates
"A" for his amazing idea, and walks off... "A" then breathes a sigh of relief for not getting shot... and now has to actually come up with a way to justify his story.

Here's a hint to any terrorists thinking of using Web-Legal content to send evil attack messages to each other: Sorry, but editing to change the content of the image is against
the license. So there! http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/smile.gif

This would probably be more funny, if I didn't have the nagging feeling that someone, somewhere, is going to try to
say that adult sites should be restricted due to national security concerns... (sigh).

a graphics wizard i know tells me that you CAN hide small amounts of info in a jpg, but it would be very large in k for the size of the pic.
