ok not that kinda out. :)

i got snail mail from zmaster today. it was just an 8.5 x 11 flyer folded and taped. there was no envelope. according to the letter, it is "envelope free, for my safety" ... yeah i fear those envelopes. god forbid i have privacy :)

anyway, on one side of the folded letter, where it has my address, it says in big letters "ADULT WEBMASTERS 18 AND OVER ONLY" and on the other side it says "ZMASTER CONTENT FOR ADULT WEBMASTERS"

now, the problem i have is that my postal place is owned by a friend. a very christian, boyscout leader, community guy. i live in a small town. within a couple of hours of me getting this fucking junk mail from zmaster for their shitty content, i've been asked to close my mailbox and use the post office, my bank has called telling me they prefer not to have my business, and ive gotten email from a few parents of kids that i work with at the schools (teaching html and such)

fortunately, ive been able to play it off as random junk mail. i think everything will be ok. but i am still very pissed that zmaster can do this. granted, there were no pictures visible to the public. but announcing the contents of the letter for the whole world to see is unacceptable and unprofessional. you can bet zmaster is gonna get a very nasty letter from me, and if i ever get another piece of mail from them... http://ads.woofmedia.com/2.gif

Something that I have learned relatively recently(past year) is that the reason I am in this business is for the freedom it affords me.. Financially and personally. Meaning I make more money than I would working 9-5 and I work when I want(which is usually double a 9-5). It is this freedom that makes this career so priceless and wonderful. If you start living your life and slinking around, telling people that you do something else, hiding the truth from everyone and REALLY caring what other people think of you and your career, then you are depriving yourself of that freedom, as you have just replaced one manacle with another.. My advice is to come out of the closet, real friends and people that are worthy of your company and friendship should be indifferent to what you do, and as far as christians go, well I won't even get started on that..
I truly think one of the most monumentous leaps that my life has taken was when I stopped thinking so much about life and just started living it, letting the peices fall as they may. You have the financial freedom that this job grants you, now go out and stop letting the spiritual/mental freedom pass you by, because that my friend is priceless..

unconnected - while i agree with you, and that is how i live my life, dawgy lives in a SMALL conservative town. he wasn't just talking about family/friend problems - his bank fired him and he needs to find a new place to get his mail - and there may not be one within 10 miles of him. he may not be able to continue teaching.
