hi,

just surfed over perkyvirgins.com today and after the page completly load and you exit they open up a page with some sort of dialer promotion - now the thing about it is, that as I looked on my screen, I saw that it was automatically added to my desktop and "start favorites"

My question now is, if this is ment to be legal and how it is done, like if I need a special code for this, what dialers do support it ?? (does usadialers.com ??)

Thx in advance,
Torsten

its standard activex for exe files, most dialers should support this - you have your settings on "low security" or something, which allows it to add to your desktop without asking. (or it was from a company who you "trust all content" from).

and how do I get the necessary files, and what about the "setup"??

Could you plz help me further on this, cause I guess its some nice way of promoting your dialer....and I´m personally doing very low on minutes with my dialer (VERY low)...

Thx,
Enlighter

our url will, at last, be live tommorow, inc a tutorial on using activex dialers.

i believe GIB have an activex solution as well.

Sad to see how many people have any sense of 'what's right' here http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/frown.gif

That perkyvirgins code is quite admirable. Its utilizing a DLL at the host
"chargitplug.dll". The webmaster has compiled the DLL with a outside
program from a site that does some neat little things with banners added
to your desktop that are actually html's but visually they look like a banner
right on your desktop. This is done with a little JavaScript
(that you don't see much). And there is a timed spawn that promotes a
gambling sponsor.

It allows you to open IE with absolutely nothing on it...no borders, toolbars,
menu etc. Not like your use to but totally shaved to the point of tricking
Windows into thinking its _not_ IE so a lot of safety features M$ put into
IE no longer work.

Some of you have seen it. It's the page where if you don't add a
"javascript http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/tongue.gifarent.window.focus();top.window.close()" to it there is no
way to close the page except for CTRL+ALT+DEL. And if you try that
line of code in an average html IE will popup a safety feature.

My hat is off to the perkyvirgins coder (bow).

ComaToast, perkyvirgins did not write the code, GIB did.

Pirate, i get a popup that says "do you want to install blah blah blah security certificate", i click NO, and guess what, nothing is placed on my desktop.

I click YES, the dialer downloads, and i go through several screens before i get connected to the premium number.

There is no scam here, no hidden bookmarks or startpage changes, no problem in my book.

I just visited the page - no popups, did not click any 'yes', the site just installed the dialer on my comp with shortcuts everywhere.

Yep....

Hypo´s right....thats what my whole point is about, if this is legal and IF it is how and where I can get it.

Whats the url of GIB dialer? Isnt GIB just a basic provider which then gets used as router from the dialer sponsors!?

Please Richard make sure to post a note in here when your (or whoevers) tutorial about that activex dialer stuff is ready!

Thx,
Enlighter

Hypo, like Richard said, it depends on your security settings, specifically activex, in IE. If your settings are set to the equivalent of "fuck me up the ass without asking me, please" then you won't get asked. You are also susceptible to CP links in your favorites, a brand new home page etc.

yep, although i believe the homepage/favourites hack affects any security level? (using js).

tools->options->security->custom level

Its the very first one - by IE default, its says "prompt" for signed activex controls.
