View Full Version : Would a few people be willing to give an opinion about my site?

My site has been online just a few months and there's been a lot of ups and downs as far as sales go. For the most part, the numbers have been increasing, but I seem to be in a rut right now.<br /><br />My main concern is not traffic, I get plenty of people through. I am linked to from some good sites and I'm listed with Lycos, Google, and I recently paid $600 for a listing with Yahoo. The problem is I'm only converting about 1:800 visitors. My understanding is that top adult sites convert more like 1:200 or so.<br /><br />I've taken care to design my site with a user friendly navigation structure, I have good looking models, I carry very little advertising, and I provide plenty of preview info, so I don't understand why people aren't buying.<br /><br />The most confusing thing is this: I used to charge $10.95/month for membership. Beginning in March I raised the price to $14.95, but I also added a 3 day trial option at $2.95. To my surprise, sales have dropped since I did this. I thought the $2.95 trial would sell like wildfire, but I made far more sales at $10.95 than I'm doing now.<br /><br />I'm looking for any suggestions from other adult webmasters or even non-webmasters as to why my conversion rate is so low and what I can do to fix it. Please be brutally honest, I promise I won't get offended. All I ask is that you be truthful and be as detailed as possible. Tell me all the reasons why you WOULDN'T join my site after seeing it for the first time.<br /><br />My URL: <a href="http://www.hornication.com" target="_blank">http://www.hornication.com</a><br /><br />Thanks to everyone, I really appreciate the input.

Here's three thoughts I came up with to maybe help you out or provide another perspective<br /><br />1. Typically most paysites of your nature offer glitzing, glamorous free tours with flashy graphics and blinking text. Maybe you want to try that instead of feeding them all the info and reviews of how great it is. Some may think its spoon fed horse shit where they rather be fooled by hot babes than cunning words.<br /><br />2. In your Preview section of pics, movies and stories its seems like I can see more, but of course I need access which I think perceptually it gives me a let down. In my opinion, if there's a let down at anytime, your sale is lost.<br /><br />3. At any other paysite I have no idea of what to expect. Sure I'd see porn in that specified genre with amount of pictures expected but that's it. Your far to detailed, your showing me nothing but telling me everything. Be more evasive/mysterious.<br /><br />I understand that your trying to offer the visitor an alternative to other sites but maybe the conventional is a beter, proven sales strategy.

Thanks starscream for the feedback.<br /><br />1) Yes, I agree that most words (including reviews) on adult sites go overlooked or people think they're bullshit. That's why I've provided links to my reviews so people can actually see that the quotes on my site are legit, and I didn't make them up. The customer comments are a different story. I can't reveal the name of any of my customers for privacy reasons, but obviously then no one can verify their truthfulness. I haven't found a way around this yet. Perhaps I would be better off not providing customer comments at all? I don't know.<br /><br />2) I'm lost on this one. Yes, when you click on a model's picture preview in my Bio section, it asks you for a username and password. If you're not a member, you won't be able to see anything. You say this is a let down that might cost me a sale, but I'm in the business of selling memberships. Forgive me if I'm misunderstanding you here, but I need to *sell* memberships. If someone decides not to join my site because they couldn't see my Member's Area for free, they probably would have never been a member in the first place. So my thought is the only people this will aggravate is those who are seeking FREE porn, which is not my business.<br /><br />3) Your last comment was interesting. "Be more evasive/mysterious." That might be something I need to look at. I haven't really considered the possibility that I'm providing too much information. I always figured the more info provided, the better.<br /><br />Thanks for the comments starscream - you are appreciated!

In regards to #2 and in the words of Yoda<br /><br />"do or do not, there is no try"<br /><br />Either you give me the free sample or you don't but no matter what, don't make me think I can see something when I'm not. <br /><br />In comparison to a typical Pay site tour, they give me what I expect, a free tour. They say it, do it and therfore they've built my instinctual trust.<br /><br />I know your in the business of selling the site and want to boot the freeloaders but at the same time you don't want to scare the credit card kings. What I suggest is to either direct the viewer to the sign-up page and say something like "To see more of her, we offer these subscription packages". I just feel the username/password pop-up is a boner killer.<br /><br />if that Star Wars reference made no sense I just wanted to throw it in there. There's so few times you can quote Yoda away from a Sci-Fi Con. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="biggrin.gif" />

sounds like this is your first site and you are somewhat of a "Newbie"<br />a paysite should never be your first site because its difficult learning how to flow and filter traffic,,,<br /><br />but eventhough you pissed me off on the other topic i will give you one tip,,,,,<br /><br />get rid of them banners and out links on your warning page,,,,,<br /><br />get rid of the home page and take out the testimonials and add them to your join page<br /><br />change your second page after the warning too <a href="http://www.hornication.com/page01.shtml" target="_blank">http://www.hornication.com/page01.shtml</a><br /><br />then on the join page add the testimonials and place some censored hardcore pics,,,<br /><br />if you change your prices to 19.95 the surfers won't know the difference,,,
Sometime a higher price can actually increase conversions.<br /><br />If a surfer has bought a membership to a so called mega site and paid 40 bucks for the month. than got inside an seen it aint all that.<br /><br />Now they come to your site and see only 14.95 makes me kinda think it will be even less than the so called mega site. (in some cases)<br /><br />increasing it to 19,95 like playa suggested might be a better option and adding some more preview material rather than a shitload of praises and what you will find text. <br /><br />And I got pissed when I couldn't see photos of niki nova. from the view photos link. give them one and say more join now or something.<br /><br />Another thing, Ibill has had a shitload of problems the past couple of months. I suggest cheking out CCbill or Jettis and keeping Ibill as a back up.<br /><br />Erik

Thanks 'playa' and 'muff'. I haven't had any problems with iBill. They send my checks on time twice a month, like clockwork. I'll take your other suggestions into consideration.

Well If you check your loggs im sure you are seeing many people not going after your first page.
I did check your new site people going to sites are coming from adult sites you display women in a calm position doind noting showing lots of face on the homepage NO ASS NO PUSS guys want to see that and want to see penetration
But cover the penitation with a lil pink star like they do in the real VHS adult movie biz
Your models are nice but they are sitting there like you are aictoria secret catalog, im not trying to be negitive your site is nice very fast loading and all but I feel you have to pull people in to the site
porn surfers going to a new site are looking for reasons not to go to the next page, give them a reason to click and click the more you get them to interact with your site the more chaces they will pay
for example:
http://www.hornication.com/bios/emma.html
GREAT PICS those ass shots should be on your home page with her covering it
You really did a great job,
now let me take another guess, your a tits man!
guess what most guys are into ass show more of that
Ok about ibill, im about to start my own site HotLocalEscorts.com I have been researching third party billers now for a long time
ibill is great never will not pay and never will pay late, but they do reject lots of cards based on what I hear from webmasters with lots of hits.
You will hear good and bad about every third party biller, I decided to go with Paycom AKA Epoch
I spoke to over 8 webmasters who are using them for over 12 months, number 1 they pay weekly but besides that.
If you try making a charge back with ibill or ccbill all you do is call up and its easy tell them you never did it and your done
With paycom they have an agreement with banks I verified it and im not affiliated with them, that in order for a chargeback to go thru the customer has to fax papaers and bullshit making it hard to charge back.
They also keep their call center in house not some outsourced careless people who just give refunds to whoever calls.
You would anyway want a backup biller too and if you use ibill i would not use ccbill as the backup because they are also strict (not as strict as ibill)
I think you should keep the 2.95 free trial.
When it comes to porn sex and stuff I can tell you this much its not the price, its how turned on you can get the person with the credit card.
I run a large escort service in NYC its always the same shit if the girl is hot they guy will do what it takes to get her if shes ugly even 15 bucks wont do.
Good luck man and I hop to succeed with my new escort directory I plan on lauching soon

Thanks 'EscortBiz', I avoided putting pussy on the main index page because of certain government restrictions cracking down on sites that do that. In the bio section, every girl has the first two thumbs clickable to full-size pics, but I intentionally chose pics that don't show pussy because buying a membership to a site like mine is almost always an impulse purchase. If I give the customer good jerk off materials in my preview section, he has no reason to buy a membership right then.
Am I wrong?

you are right
about the issue of good jerk off material thats why i said teaser materiel like the girl that covers her puss or asshole or whatever.
but you say you show all in the profile of the girl thats nice but show the teaser on home page so they go to profile the pics on home page are not hardcore enough to prompt the vieew to stay at the site.
I do like the fact that you only allow one or 2 images to be seen larger the rest you haver to join nice job on that
But your 2 main issues that is worth trying is the better teasers on home page and also find out how many ibill declines and have a backup pros.
just trying to help
