PRESS RELEASE FROM RJB TELCOM

RJB TELCOM SETTLES LAWSUIT BY FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION

Today, RJB Telcom, Inc. and its principals, Richard (RB) and Bob Botto entered into an agreement with the Federal Trade Commission staff resolving the
October 2000 lawsuit brought by the FTC. The agreement is subject to formal approval by the Federal Trade Commissioners and such approval is expected.
Under the terms of the settlement, set forth in a Final Injunction, RJB Telcom, Inc. will not pay any fine or restitution, and RJB will continue the fraud
prevention and detection programs that it currently employs.

It is highly unusual in a case of this type for the FTC not to require substantial monetary payments and a performance bond. The FTC?s decision not to seek
these remedies demonstrates the weakness of the FTC?s lawsuit against RJB.

The Bottos and their counsel strongly believe that the FTC brought this lawsuit without any factual and legal basis. The FTC's own complaint and
declarations were riddled with inaccurate and unsubstantiated representations from consumers and the FTC's investigator.

Nevertheless, in October, the FTC was able to obtain an exparte order, without knowledge of the Bottos, seizing their bank accounts, locking them out of
their own business and installing a receiver. The FTC then released a provocative press release labeling RJB as one of the "Top 10 Dot-Cons" in America.

According to Peter Morris, a Los Angeles attorney who represents RJB, ?The FTC staff conducted an exhaustive investigation into the operations of RJB,
searching for evidence to support its complaint. As hard as they looked, they found no evidence that RJB or the Bottos defrauded consumers out of a dime
and the Final Injunction demonstrates this point.?

Richard (RB) Botto stated: "We are thrilled to be completely vindicated of all the accusations presented in the FTC?s complaint. This final agreement is
evidence of our integrity and should prove that all RJB operations have been, and continue to be, honest and above board."

Questions regarding this press release can be addressed to Peter Morris, Esq. at Altman & Morris, 1880 Century Park East, Ste. 613, Los Angeles, CA 90064.

I only took down some of their links when they weren't converting that well for me. Most of my links sucked, so my conversion rate went up http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/smile.gif I'm happy to support any company that demonstrates a professional attitude like Maxcash. They have always responded to queries within 24 hours of an email. I'm impressed with the advise that Alyssa and Snoops give budding newbies on how to improve their sites. They have regularly kept me informed of when payment would be sent, even though I have never queried them on this. I'll be sending them some more traffic, even if payment will probably be slow for a few months.

wondering if they'll sue the FTC for inflamatory comments onto their business (top-ten dot cons) or for loss of business due to late payments, etc..

I think they should sue or at least do something to force the FTC to make some kinda public apology. IMO, I think that this has affected their business...

I for one pulled every link I had pointing at anything they own. I'm not about to put any back up either because the press release above says that the FTC still has to accept the proposal. They could still end up in the hole.

I dont mess with dialers but that is a personal position. I had links to their sites. My fear was loosing income to a company that might be sunk by the FTC.

I would have unloaded AT&T stock during divestiture (when the company was forced to break up it's local phone business into smaller companies and focus on LD communications) as well - so who knows.

Media hype is media hype.

richard, you make NO SENSE...

it's like saying:

" my neighbor accused me of rapping her 4 years old daughter.... I went into hell, lost most of my friend, my reputation, and my job... but it doesn't matter, now the jury cleaned me of all accusation... I'm officially not a child rapist"

Thats exactly my point Mag.

Like the article says, it is very unusual because the FTC have not fined them, or got a performance thingy with them.

I'm saying, in principle, a company that the FTC has tried to fuck, but couldn't, must be doing something right.

It gives you a bit more reassurance that they are not going to be fucked over again..

Fart, I was one of the first posters here, in fact when this bbs was hosted on Rimmer's TGP. I mostly do small free sites and se traps, though I do run some small clean topsites.

nah, it gives me the feeling that they'll be watched in the future..

and also the feeling I'll get worst sales because the public heard bad things about them... which were unfounded.
