Newbie scenario, check this out

I wanted to tell you about this guy I was talking to. He is a professional web site designer, he can build splash pages, tour pages and a members area. He can also code in PHP. He is now trying to set up a pay site to make some money. He doesn't think that an affiliate program will help him out. I tried to tell him that he would be better creating scripts or professionally designing pay sites for others. But still he insists that running a pay site will be more profitable.

Anyways, what do you all think of this situation?

If he is good designer it will show in success of his paysite.

I think he is not happy just making design for another people.

What if his paysite sucks and makes no money? Then he can design for others.
