Ok, I bought yesterday a printer, Canon BJC 2100
Did you know Canon BJC entire series 1000,2000,3000 can't print in DOS ???
I didnt , maybe I'm stupid but I didnt knew this.
So I bought an useless printer http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/frown.gif
It's working only in Windows, and only starting from W95 !
I tried from DOS prompt something like
type xxx.txt>lpt1
type xxx.txt>prn
Nothing...I went back to the shop and I found indeed those printers are not working in DOS
Who in right mind would ask if this fucking printer can print from an ancient operating system ???
They explained me why:
Those printers doesnt have an EEPROM where usually are stored ASCII table & some standard fonts, they are short with this chip, this is making their price lower - I paid only 100$ - therefore they sell better.
So, watch out when you're buying your new printer, from the shop I found a lot other printers are having the same problem.
HP laserjet 1100, 2100 series..same shit http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/frown.gif
