Just wanted to get you guys input on this situation.. I'm trying to lease a house and the landlord wants to see records since I'm self-employed. As far as that, would check stubs be sufficient records? I basically classified myself as a webmaster/e-commerce on the lease application. Should I be totally honest with this guy and tell him I'm an adult webmaster? Or should I just hand him one 6-month(jan2001-aug 2001)file folder of checkstubs and let him find out on his own? Also:I don't have a business name, I've been running as a sole proprietorship. I basically just keep my checkstubs and enter the info into Quicken Home & Business. If you guys could please give advice on the subject, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

it might be better for you to show him your deposit slip receipts rather than checkstubs (for privacy's sake), along with possibly offering a greater deposit to make up for the "potential" risk of leasing to a self-employed person.

I had the same problem when applying for a rental application for september this year. The solution was to show them last year's tax return (deleted your SSN or other relevant info), but basically show you can earn money. If that's not enough, show him 1 month's check stubs or your bank account balance. Basically, you need to prove you have at least 1 year's rent in your bank and that'll convince them. Don't let them find out your a porn webmaster, they may discriminate and make up some BS excuse to reject you.

Thanks for you guys' help.. I think I'll just show him my bank statements which basically show all the particulars such as deposits made. Hopefully that's sufficient enough.
