i dont believe that thats a viable source to determine if porn is dying on the net..

they used search engines as their test, and im sure like most people, when people go on excite and search for 'sex', 'porn', etc, they get one of those highly optimized pages that are meant solely for a high search engine rank. those pages contain no actual content, and most only ask for money to receive porn. now joe surfer is going to be sick of using search engines to look for porn because he knows that he never gets what he wants, so he turns to otehr places like tgps or maybe get trapped in a cj.

porn im sure is only rising on the net, because porn is not one of those things that perverts can get enough of - their craving will be satisfied certain times, but the next day (or day after), they will have to quench that craving again . since the people on the net is only rising, porn is rising too..

i think that the only reason a porn site is not in the top 10 is because of the MASSIVE competetion between hundreds of thousands of sites. the users are spread out. if i remember correctly, karas xxx playground was always near the top, i dont know where it is but im sure its considerably lower, because porn surfers are sick of the same paysite, and webmasters offer them something different with another sponser.

anyway i think im rambling now so ill stop

just my 2 cents

Possibly people search for it less now because it's much easier too find, besides it doesn't take long to realize that SE return bullshit results when looking for pron (more than they used to) unless you already know what to look for ... Also I wonder if they would include such phrases as "Juoppo Jarmon" as looking for pron?

Their conclusion is very, very wrong.

At 1997 there are only 30.000.000 regular (daily) surfers. So, 30.000.000:6=5.000.000

Today there are 350-400.000.000 regular (daily) surfers. So, 375.000.000:12=31.200.000

Sir. Winston Churchill once say (paraphrase):
All lairs you can rank at
1) common lairs
2) damn lairs
3) people who use statistics.

peace

thats gotta be the most bs study and every damn news agency quotes it. no one uses excite anyways.

after 1997 research companies were expecting growth in non adult to outpace growth in adult. but there are a ton more porn surfers today than there was in 1997. i bet at least half of them just go right to tgp's instead of se's.
