View Full Version : Is CCBill tracking system obsolete?

CCBill is relaying it's tracking on cookies set in the browser, with the every day changing Internet, is this way of tracking to old fashion to actually work? After checking our stats I noticed that over 30% of our traffic is using IE 6.0 or higher. IE 6.0 will by default not allow third party cookies to be set, result no sales tracked.

CCBill has recently added a new feature that adds Java code "on the fly" inside the paysite sign up page, what's added is depending on what browser the user is using. In IE 6.0 a target=_top is added in the form head and depending on how the owner of the pay site has built their site tour, it's a risk that it will cause their pop up to execute when the user is trying to sign up.

More and more people over the world is switching over to broadband / ADSL . Many ISP's, as a service, offers free or trial firewall software. When a firewall is added to the client, all cookies in most cases will be blocked, result no sales tracked.

CCBill states that if a cookie is not set the sale will be tracked by a time stamp, this is Not the case.

Combine these factors and you will see that thousands of sign ups monthly generated by CCBill webmasters will not get credited for their sales.

CCBill's tracking system was top notch but is that the case today?

Sincerely

Chris
I'm pretty sure this has been takin care of before!

The default in the new IE is to not allow third party cookies UNLESS they have a proper privacy policy.

I'm pretty sure CC Bill has that privacy policy.

So I dont think you should be concerned with that!

Dear Muff,

What I say is a fact Not some ranting.
Dear Chris.

What I'm saying is you left facts out of your statement. ie. the privacy policy.

I know for a fact you're correct, in saying that IE 6 by default has third party cookies disable.

I know there's a thread around discussing this topic. but I can't find it at the moment.

It's good that you brought it up because it is an important issue. But I beleive it has been solved...??? kimmy kim?

Well Chris, the first thing you should do is understand what kind of cookies are what. CCBill cookies ARE NOT third party -- you may be confusing third party billing with third party cookies.

We also run a script to detect IE6 and site owners framing the CCBill join page and we break the frames if those two things happen.

And we do indeed use the IP tracking/timestamp as a secondary.

Why not try to work the problem instead.

Nobody have to try to protect anything.

> We also run a script to detect IE6 and site
> owners framing the CCBill join page and we break
> the frames if those two things happen.

You don't see it as a problem when you don't inform the site owners about this strategic move? So they can adjust to this new "feature"?

>And we do indeed use the IP tracking/timestamp
>as a secondary.

No, believe me, that is not the case. You may use it but it don't work. We have checked, checked and re-checked.

Checked, checked and rechecked? I'd refer you to a post made by Sleepy on a different board but I don't generally post another board's url on anyone's board. It does work

You'd be amazed how few people actually frame out our join page, and as we normally handle things, we deal with issues on a per client basis, not by making a public announcement, which often just makes website owners who AREN'T doing anything that's not 100% correct within the system, worry about nothing.

If you've got specific questions regarding YOUR account, you can always email them to me.

Your unwillingness to answer my question just proves me right. Prove me wrong with hard evidence that signups are for a fact tracked by time stamp if a cookie is not set. That would only make CCBill webmasters to believe more in your system, and strengthen your position as a third party billing company.

I wish their stats viewing area was easier to navigate. I wouldl like to be able to see how each day breaks down all at once and not per week or per group of days or per day and nothing else.

Don't bother emailing her. I've tried several times to inquire about a stats issue. No response as usual. Why offer to help when you don't? At lease respond to an email.. Hell, email me and tell me to kiss your ass! Anything! Just RESPOND for God's sake.. I'm about to totally give up on CCBILL.. Geez..

The best way to hide a not working customer support is to say " we deal with issues on a per client basis, not by making a public announcement ". The issues addressed are NOT webmaster or client issues they are program issues. The fact that KimmyKim chooses Not to respond and chooses Not to answer certain questions proves to all of us that we are right.

Or maybe she just hasn't gotten around to coming to the site? After all, I'm sure she's busy at work and from the look of your posts she posts at times that she's more than likely at home or on lunch.

andre, if you would like me to post copies of your emails to me AND my replies to you, I'll be glad to do it right here.

And no, ChrisR, they are not program issues. If you have questions about a specific sponsor and how they do things, you should most likely address your question to them, since they are the ones who are legally contracted with CCBill.

As I've said already in this thread, and am saying for the last time, there is no problem with our system, it works, and joins are properly tracked.
