Suppose I decided I wanted someone to pay me in another currency... lets say Netherland guilders... If possible, how would I go about exchanging my guilders to US dollars?
Is is possible to wire guilders to a US bank account, or do they have to send them in a check or what? Just realized I could make more money exchanging guilders to dollars...

If im not mistaken...guilders are not a registered SWIFT currency. Check would be the option.

Not that is any of my business but why would you want to do a thing like that??

Being from denmark, i have to exchange all the checks i get in USD to our mickey mouse currency http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif and its a pain in the ass and costs me money every freaking time...

So unless you have the mother of all good reasons to do it... i sure wouldnt... and if you do, the bank might take a fee for the exchange so dont be surprised by that either http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I have a US bank account now, in my bank...and it,s really usefull.

When the Canadian currency goes up, I buy USD dollars....and when it goes down, I buy CAN dollars.

I make cash while doiing nothing this way since my bank only take 2$ per transactions http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/smile.gif

Of course NLG is a registered SWIFT-currency. It's going to be replaced by the EURO next year. Technically NLG is already the same as the EURO.

You can wire money in any currency you want, but honestly I don't think your idea is going to make you any money. You are more likely to have the risk of losing money due to exchange fees, transaction fees, exchange rate fluctuations, ...

Because in their payment system, they pay 2.35 guilders per every dollar. Right now, the exchange rate is like 1.47 guilders per dollar. For instance, this month I made $2,038 dollars or 4789.30 guilders. If I took the guilders, and exchanged them at the rate of 1.47g per US dollar, I would make $3258.02 instead of $2038. Fuck, I dont think the fee will cost more than $1000, and that extra money is definately worth the trip to the bank for me... I'm making $1200 more for simply exchanging my currency...
If that's not worth it, then you people have some serious value problems =) Rich bastards... http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/wink.gif

Hahahaha... Blind (well chosen name), you should really try this at the bank and see how much dollars (USD) you get for your dutch guilders (NLG) http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif
Be sure to switch back to US dollars before 28th January 2002.

On a more serious note could someone help me obtaining an USA bank/checking account in the USA as I live in the Netherlands.

Actually, I just got back from the bank...
There is no transaction charge other than the usual wire charge, and the going rate for my bank wasn't 1.47g per dollar it was more like 1.87g per dollar but im getting paid at a rate of 2.55g per dollar... So I ended up bringing in another $800... not the $1200 I first hoped for but hell... $800 will cover a number of my bills.
