I'm much more of a web surfer than a webmaster and you guys seem to have a language of your own
but I do understand this bit .... "this type of script wouldnt be cheap to buy if one even existed"

Do you mean some software or a script that you could enter a gallery url and automatically download the
gallery to your own hard drive and then remove all the banners and shit so you are left with a clean page
with just the thumbnails left on it ?

If that is what you mean then what would it be worth to sell .....I must have it wrong because I just couldn't
imagine anybody buying anything like that .... would they!!!! .... just in case

I will explain in more detail for you.

You have a sponsor or friend or content provider (Legit Purposes Only) and you need to get content from site A to site B you with me.

Well say they put the images on a page or in a dir you would enter URL http://somesite/dir/ or page if its on a page. The script would spider and grab all the pics then save them over to your server like how a leaching program works. Now the script would be placing each page of images in its own dir to prevent problems using a counter.

Theres other minor details but programmer would need to figure them out im not getting paid for my idea here.

Now you have a dir of images and you would click a button create galleries... The script goes thru the dirs of images and builds index files and thumbs to your specs from a template you could edit thru the admin.

Now you have saved a heap of time downloading / creating indexes / uploading understand.. :)

I have seen scripts that will do some of these things but not the actual collection process.


But i dont mean to just use this to leach everyones shit and try to spider paysites blind. So maybe i should patent the process and only allow it be used to legit purposes.

Remote moving of files from one ftp to another is what I know as FXP instead of FTP, I have only had it working once a few years back from my bedroom on my 14k modem and it as like driving a Ferrari :) talk about fassssst.
The things you talk about the bot doing are the things I desperately want to learn how to do, I want everything I have on the net to be completely automated and I can easily write the software to make it happen on my own computer but what I need to learn is how to make my programs work on another host's machine.
I wrote my own spider and got it to scan about 500,000 links and made a database that you can type search words into and then it automatically generates pages of hyperlinks with with menus and everything but it only works on my computer :(
he he the cool thing is that it shows the structure of all sites on a host and you can locate all the goodies no matter how hard they try to hide them :D
Remember when I was bleating on because of the meta tag thing , fuck me I was so pissed watching that guys empty web pages on auto pilot kick my ranking off every search engine and I was like a bear with a sore ass for weeks and you said its not important, he he you were right :) my sites are a pile of crap but its just human nature to try to defend what you believe to be yours.
All my sites can just sit and rot for all I care now all I'm interested in is websites that are controlled by software and no more need to use html editors the fuckers can just fix themselves :D oh joy happy happy :D
