Wow, do most of you people really believe you're going to be making a living in this industry in a few years??? You better bet your horses you won't be... And those who will are the ones who don't sit on this message board all day complaining about how little money they make now. The industry is not going down, but the competition is skyrocketing, and I think those that don't look ahead and prepare for the future, will one day be aching and wishing they did... actually my money is going back up gradually but steadily since last september. i have a paysite in the works that was tested as an avs site and did fucking great! and i have a non-adult site in the works as well.<br /><br />i have been here 6 years, and weathered every change - the only times things get bad for me is when i ignore or put off noticing a new trend in marketing that comes up.<br /><br />i was here when all that were here was free sites, and then came link lists - and they were the main thing around. then came early toplists. and then when toplists became the main thing, then the first cj's. then came the toplist scripts with cheater protection. we all posted to picture posts that become a major traffic sender, then tgp's took over and picture posts pretty much died.<br /><br />i have seen crappy sites that looked like old bbs give way to small paysites, and as time went by, they grew. in 1996 we had a site with 150 pics *lol* that we charged $9.95 a month to see and you had to call a 1-900 number. and we converted better than 1:100 for this site!<br /><br />just keep your eyes on the changes and you'll probably do fine. but ignore those changes and find yourself extinct ;-)

once ppl start losin money, u'll see a lot of ppl leave. paysites will change to a more profitable model. u'll see less cookie cutter sites. right now the emphasis seems to be quantity over quality. its complete horseshit.<br /><br />tgp's aren't goin away anytime soon. seems like everyday more and more webmasters are submitting to them. i thought things would be getting worse by 2002. but its not really that bad yet.

Joshua, if you have subscribed to any single subject magazine - bodybuilding, 4wheeling, guitarplaying - you will see the same topics come up again and again and again and...<br /><br />people talk about what is interesting to them or what concerns them. or they feel that they have something to say that they would like to have stand out from being lost in a thread. or the thread is so convoluted with insults or has changed to some other topic.
