This is something that's always puzzled me. How can a script tell if a surfer is still at the site? Does the browser notify the website upon the surfer closing the window?

It's done with sessions I believe.. Basically the user is online until he/she times out.

I've had a script like that. Check out http://www.hoscripts.com for one. Mine where a pearl/java combo but I think there would be some others too.
