View Full Version : XP IS GOING CRAZY
hi
i really need help with winxp professional (final).i bought a new pc 2 days ago and installed xp again and i don´t know why but xp is getting on my fucking nervs.. when i work with the pc and do something it happens that xp simply reboots without any notice or errormsg. i donno what this might be.. but what i know is that it always happens when i CLICK (close a window/start something)
IF ANYONE KNOWS WHATS WRONG / WHAT IT MIGHT BE PLEASE HELP!

I have the same problem (@home). mostly when going trough boards or stuff.
it just reboots out of the blue.

i've got xp on 5 pc's and none have that problem unless you got bad a install are somthing
same thing here but not with XP, with windows second edtion
well actually good to know that other guys have the some problem :)
i donno what it might me.. at GFY a guy meantioned it could be XP itself, bad ram or the bios rebooting because of CPU heat...
i really donno how to deal with it...

Never had this problem on XP myself, but it's possible that you're actually getting a blue screen, but XP is set to automatically reboot on errors, so you don't see it.
To see the error, go to "control panel/system"
(or just hit "windows key/pause-break" if you have it)
and select the "advanced" tab.
Now hit the "settings" button in the "startup and recovery" section.
In the "system failure" section, uncheck "automatically restart" if it's checked, and make sure that both "write event to system log" and "send administrative alert" are checked.
Hopefully it should give you a blue screen and file dump next time, which will aid in finding what the problem is.
Most system crashes on XP or Win2000 occur because of badly coded video drivers (yes even the ones written by MS themselves sometimes don't work perfectly).
Updated video drivers usualy solve these type of issue.
That said, it could be many other things too, but most commonly it's the video drivers.

hahaha lol....
Well I did that before, and XP crashed on my windows update during the installation of the updates.
but i found the problem.
I installed new 4in1-drivers (mainboard) and that fixed it. www.viatech.com (http://www.viatech.com)
(I should have thought about that 4 installations earlier) :D

Has windows worked good other than that?, i getting Xp myself and getting ready to install on a crappy Compaq 5360 with 188 ram, all else factory besides that..worried it might crash like yours....
any comments on XP?
