I'm starting a phone sex site and, as far as I know, CCbill and Ibill won't handle that ...
I haven't checked with Globill yet, but even if they do phone sex ...I'm told they don't scrub accounts as well as the others do ... and I DON'T want chargebacks ...
Paycom.net does handle phone sex ... but I've been researching posts where a good number of people complain that they don't pay ...
BUT ... there seems to be problems with everybody ... Ibill, CCbill, etc. ... if not payment, then other problems like Ibill being down alot lately, etc ...
And others say they don't have a problem with Paycom ...
I don't want to use PayPal ... I know a lot of people use them, but they're not a chartered financial institution and they're still not profitable ... there's some bad press on them as well ...
Should I resort to a merchant account and buy a database for scrubbing? If so ... where can I purchase the best scrubbing database?
As you can see ... even if you do some homework ... it's pretty confusing researching posts here and elsewhere ...

Paycom.net/Epoch are current with all payments... They did have problems, but they have been solved, and they are much stronger today, than 1 year ago.
Regarding scrubbing, then all 3rd party processors are scrubbing very hard + VISA have moved them into "Payment Service Providers" from november 15. - this means they have a new set of rules they have to follow.
Your own merchant account can be good, if you do low volume (less than $50K per month), and do not have high risk with chargebacks (all adult internet transactions are looked as high risk). However 3rd party processors take care of all these headaches. Its also good to use 3rd party if you are new in business since it lets you focus on your core business.

Thanks Digital ...
The posts complaining about Paycom did seem to refer of older situations so ... if they've cleaned up their act ... that's good to know ...
I'm not totally new to the business ... I ran a free site that didn't work out ... but I don't have any experience with processors ... so the feedback is very helpful ...
Thanks again ...
P.S. If you know of good scrubbing databases I would like to check that out regardless since I will be doing low volume ... at least to start.

You can also use your own merchant account with most big 3rd party processors, then you use their backend (software, scrubbing tools, support management, call center etc.).
If you wish to have your own setup, then http://www.cybersource.com/ is a good option for scrubbing.

Yeah - they have had their share of problems... alot of other companies would just have closed, but Epoch is still here. I think that makes them strong.
All companies (including processors) have their ups and downs. Epoch have had alot of downs, but currently they getting their operation back on track.
After 5 years in the paysite business, then my theory is that when one processors solves its problems, then another one get problems. Usual this is because webmasters/paysites flock to the processor who are the "least evil"... then the processor gets alot of volume business, and a few months down the road it starts to hurt its operation, because it gets problems with more chargebacks/volume etc. Then webmasters/paysites start to look for a new processor who are "least evil"...
Ex. 6 months ago IBill was da bomb - today alot of webmasters using IBill are looking for other options. In 3-6 months then IBill would probably start to get more business, because the processor that webmasters/paysites flocks to now will get problems... the cycle never seams to stop.
Ah well - its just a theory, maybe all processors will eventually get stable and we will not have to choose between the "least evil" ;)

I'm happy with epoch as long as the paysite owner factors and pays upfront before they get paid by epoch.
I don't seem to have any issues of low signups due to scrubbing or anything like some have complained here.

Interesting theory Digital ...
Particularly since Ibill's problems seem don't seem to be going away ...
Maybe Paycom is good since lots of people still seem to hate them ... although Ibill is getting there as well ... LOL
well
I know that paycom /epoch got pretty good support, well best I ever seen
I just didnīt like their 39 sites contracts in comparison to ccbill 8 sites I am still wondering what they want.
Do I buy also a new house, and a new car there :D
