it seems to me this issue of spamming and excessive use of tag lines is a mixed area - what is the difference when they are both just as easy to read?
why not just ban tags lines for a day or 2 and let everyone post and answer questions with out fear of attack?

munchkin - i'm not saying i'm the victim - i think that we all are - you included - as lines between general help - needing advice and pure out self promotion and advertising are quite blured as i see it :)

my point proved!
the only post with the tag line - is the only one with promotion

I can see how you would think that the lines are blurred but it is not something to get all upset over what you did was considered a spam....and I suppose that the tags at the bottom of the page are too. but lets just take responsibility for our actions instead of pointing fingers at other people.

munchkin - not pointing any fingers - just facts and observations :)
candidpublishing - not saying that i mind it - but i got jumped for it a couple of times - in fact it's better than that 1/2lb. of wasted paper mail that i get in my mailbox every day - now that kind of spam is so uncalled for :)
Ok...heres the 411...
When the signatures got turned on I talked to tim...I thought this was gonna be a major source of hardcore spam. But he feels different...He enabled them so people could advertise who they are with...He doesn't mind as long its not a damn stupid long ass ad made just for advertising. I put what I put in my signature to let people know how to contact me and to let them know I do both hosting and dialers. There is a big difference between saying contact me for hosting and having your signature in every post...

Since you only made this post after our convo in ICQ and your refering to my SiG heres my $.02 for you..
My tag is letting people know what i offer so i have my rate just like Candid has his rate of payout. I dont post on every single thread just to spam my sig everywhere and i post on other things besides hosting.
What do you provide to the community discussions DPlay since you been here thats not to your advantage??
Do you post when a guy needs advice on content if it wont benifit you??
Do you post on great sponsors or programs that you have tried or know of??
Do you post on useful ways to get more traffic to sites??
Do you post on great scripts when somone is looking for one??
I think i can say yes to that and many other useful things i have posted and many made me no gain at all. This is a community which i happen enjoy being a small part of or i would not be here. So basically because you get slammed by peops for spamming you want everyones sig turned off so it would be more to "your advantage".
Basiclly if you dont like the rules on here your more then free to setup your own BBS or pay Tim for some ad space like i have discussed with him and plan to do myself.
Im done with you and this issue so say whatever you like and just keep showing everyone what a fool you are. I think everyone can already see for the most part that you cant comprehend the meaning of rules.

toker - my replys are the following:
1. i have been in the adult mainstream community for a while and have given advice to many people that are not of my advantage as you say - anyways - how connected are you in the biz to be able to know people like mr. flynt and others on a personal basis?
2. regarding content - i have helped a couple of people recently in fact - without any $$ to me - for pure japanese content - since i used to live and shoot content in japan
3. sponsers - know many of them - and recommend when asked - also know of a few to stay away from that don't pay their bills :(
4. traffic to sites - not my specialty - but have plenty of contacts
5. scripts - i'm not the tech side - just pure biz..
6. and last - i never said - but of course you didn't listen - to turn the signatures off completely - i was only making a point that there seems to be a VERY LITTLE difference between a true spam post and replying and talking about any subject no matter the level of experience - just to get the signature on the screen more times than your buddy - which you hope will convert to more customers and $$ for your pocket in the end..
as gump says - that's all i have to say

my 2c:
2 line no (br) tags only, nothing excessive.
If you wanna put your email/rates/prices/icq number/urls extra to 2 line, why not include them on the url your sig links to?
Short and sweet. Like Battus' tag.

hah. this shit is funny. you fags are too busy arguing over "the nature of spam" to realize that some people might actually WANT to learn about ways to make money or cheaper hosting. Aren't we all here to make money?
If you answered "yes," then please cram it.
thanks

I don't get it, if you know they are taglines then just overlook them. No one's making anyone click to see what they are, and they aren't part of the post so they can be easily skipped over...

I don't see taglines as being spam or anything at all.
Why don't you tell everyone on the internet to not put signatures into their email also? Since they annoy you so much. If you don't like it don't read it, its referred to as scroll.

Kimmykim you are absoulutely right!A tag is like a business card not a bill bord that says PICK ME!! PICK ME!! everychance they get if you don't like the tags don't look at them they have nothing to do with the post!!!

Thats my 2 cents!
