it was not a 767 but an airbus. and it was an outgoing (departing) flight.

there are 4 buildings down or on fire.

It is still a little early to know what is going on. If more planes start to go down it is certain what is going on.

If its the terrorists, its time to nuke all those mother fuckers.

RaiDeN
11-12-2001, 09:06 AM
246 passengers and 9 crewmembers were on board. and again numerous people died on the ground.

I can't believe this......

Even if it is not an attack, be it a reminder we must kill those assholes in Afghanistan & Iraq. Otherwise, it can happen again to anybody, anywhere, and without any warning.

That's very bad!

CNN.com was down for me last hour, the same happened on Sep 11th. Their server can't handle the traffic when something like this happens.

Now our traffic will drop because of this crash and the income will drop as well :(

Oh man this is fucked up. I live in Queens, NY and we were just recovering from 9/11/01. I sincerely hope this was NOT a terriost attack, if it was it's time to bring out the nukes.

I'm talking about the money and the traffic in a long term. If the terrorists attacks against USA don't stop ASAP and if the USA don't win this was against terrorism the business, not only ours will goes worse and worse. We still can't back to normal after Sep 11th.

damn planes

Simon

Wow, this is indeed sad news =(

However i doubt it is a terrorist attack though because they said the engine was detached.

So unless the terrorist went hovering outside the plane with a screw driver and detached the engine i dont think it is a terrorist attack,

Than again it happened in New York yet again.

Lets have a moment for the families involved :(

Guliani just announced it seems to be a isolated case.

Anyone know if it crashed to large buildings or resedential area?

Simon

The Plane crashed into a purely residential area. It's usually a nice beach spot in the summer.

New York is taking some bad beatings this year, emotionaly and physically

Simon,

You are correct about the engine. It was a GE engine which was flagged as having potential problems.

The engine was designed to 'break-apart'.

This is a classic case of when Airlines ignore warnings and play percentages for their bottom line.

Btw, the report on the GE engine this airbus used came out in May of this year.

The engine went nuts, exploded, broke off (hence it landing elsewhere) and the plane nose dives because of it.

The only way this is a terrorist attack is if you call the stupid Airline Companies terrorists. Perhaps they should stop playing %'s because even at 1 in a million, when that 1 hits, it is big especially in these times.

there are 7,000 flights a day going in/out of NY.

likely not a terrorist act, but very unfortunate. :(

Okay, some details, it was an airbus 300 taking off from JFK to Dominican Republic.
256 people on plane + 9 crew members, unknown about people on the ground, but it was a residential area, and today being a holiday, kids were not in school, so possible problem there, but nothing confirmed yet.

Initially, NY closed all airports, bridges, and tunnels, but they have all been opened except JFK because they have to verify not contaminated fuel.

The plane crashed within 3 minutes of take-off, and the pilot knew something was up because he dumped his fuel before crashing.

I highly doubt this was the work of terrorists, but more likely a case of some dumbass mechanic fucking up. This personal opinion is based on the fact that the aircraft was given a check up yesterday. Most likely, this was its first attempt at flight since the mechanics touched it. I know if my bike breaks down right after I work on it, I probably screwed up.

Anyway, no need for paranoia gang, otherwise every time something breaks we will be blaming it on terrorists.

Well, really what do you expect when air lines fire engineers, techs, etc.. in the thousands?

Obviously pieces of the puzzle will be missing.
You know what I mean here?

I mean .. If there was a person double checking something most likely they were fired in the layoffs, air lines thinking the first checkup will do the double check as well.

these 10,000 american airline workers that were fired, had tasks that are not being done anymore. Yes probebly 90% of those were not the techs / engineers but the 10%
is still 10%.

So really, god help the air line industry because from what I see , they are in deep trouble. The amount of people traveling is going to get lower and lower as long as this type of shit keeps up.
