Thought I would put it here as a refresher for some of the new folks and perhaps some of the more seasoned webmasters also if they need it. We hear about cheaters and hitbots everyday in this biz and a handy little piece of info was handed onto me from Eskimoen on this board that has made life so much easier. I was reminded of it today again when I needed to use it to stop my most recent hitbot cheater.
ftp this up to your webroot on your server and watch that nasty hitbot disappear:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} ^http://cheater\.com/
RewriteRule .* - [F,L]
Of course you will need to place the proper domain in there but it is simple, easy and quite effective.
Thanks again Eskimoen:bounce: You rock!
