I am starting this in a new thread because the thread it was posted in was rightly closed and what I am posting is only about 1 comment. This is nothing to do with the thread it came from, but about the comment from Shap which as usaul as some wise words in there. In the post Shap said
In the thread that was rightly closed Shap posted:
"This place is definitely in a low place right now. Big Mag you should maybe think about no longer moderating here. In the past few months it has dropped to new lows, and personally I won't post here anymore because I don't want my name associated with the things going on here (I'm sorry to say that :-("
Maybe a few of you should take some time to read that and then think about the help you are losing out on. There are a lot of great webmasters who read this board and have a wealth of information they are wiling to share, but why the fuck whould they bother when most of the posting end up as back stabbing.
Recently the moderators acually posted to ask if we thought they where to tough on spammers/arseholes what a laugh personally I say clamp down on them and if they are unable to learn kick thier sorry arses off the board.
As Shap is rightly saying CJ webmasters do have a bad name within the industry and the backstabbing sponsor whinging petty post twats that have wormed thier way into this board are turning the board into somewhere a lot of webmasters would rather not have thier name posted and while that is happening you are all losing a lot of help.
And anyone who wants to have a whinge about me posting this have some balls and hit me up on ICQ 8669370 I am not online much at the moment but anyone who wants to have a moan I will make sure I am online for you.
every board has it's own personality. What makes AWI differnt?
If you didn't find it here, check the PC board.
These same people that back stab here and whine, are on the other boards. They just feel more comfortable posting here, cause the "BIG" players don't often post here. (or what ever the reason)
Personally, i have gained a wealth of knowledge from posting here over the past year+.

well, there may be something in what you say, but there is a reason i come here for information instead of elsewhere.
i tried the ynot board - after all, ynot was THE adult webmaster thing when i started out over 4 years ago. i asked a question, and was totally bashed. it was a question i still think is valid, and it turned out i was correct.
a lot of the more "respectable" boards are buddy clubs. there may be more going on, but this clique-iness has kept me from getting answers many times.
i have gained more info on this board that has helped my business and made me money here than elsewhere. isn't that a big part of what these boards are about?

Yep I have to agree with Basschick, I have looked at some of the 'respectable' boards and its nothing but total ass kissing. Now given the choice between hearing everyone kiss ass and everyone telling everyone to fuck off I would choose the second. At least I know what is going on here is real, and not someone trying to kiss the Hun's ass or whoever 'big' it may be. KEEP IT REAL.

I agree with Mr Exotic.
Everytime you try to say something about a sponsor on the "more respectable" boards, a rep from that sponsor show up and every other webmasters start kissing his ass.

True words from Shap.
I have a question to Rimmer:
Is it possible to turn the access to one of the boards on AWI on and off for registered users ? Maybe you know what my idea is...
There are at least 20-30 people on AWI that know what's up in the bizz and have been arround for a long time, also in the times when AWI was smaller and more civilised.
If it's technically possible, Tim should open an additional new board for the oldies where the spam, bitching and all that crap stays at home and it's possible to talk seriously about the things going on without haveing 20 replies from stupid first-time-posters.
I'm not sure if it's possible and if the idea is welcome, but it could help to build a place where knowledge rules like in early '00 on AWI.
Your comments please...

Another board? Then I will have to read
about 6 boards.. (with 3 general boards,
the CJII, general board and Respected board)
I agree with all of you, i come here to get info, and like shap i do get tired of the same BS every time some one asks a question. But like anything else i learned to ignor the spam, bitching and how to get the info i want.
Basschick, same thing happened to me at Ynot a few years back. Asked a simple question and i got like 10+ replies totaly bashing me. Needless to say that was the last time i posted in the poublic forum. Until AWI that is http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Killah: i hope i'm included in the new forum, i've been around for more than a year. I may not be a "high" profile webmaster but i have respect for who's who. I don't spam much, and i do try to help when ever i can http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Anyhoo, i've got design work to attend to.
Catch ya all on the flip side!

I just posted for the first time yesterday, but have been reading this board for about a month. This board is my favorite by far. It's much easier to find helpful info and it has many very experienced and equally helpful webmasters. I hope that the few spammers and other undesirables (according the previous poster that would include a newbie like me)don't ruin it by forcing the helpful webmasters to close up shop and re-open elsewhere. It took me a year to find a board I liked, hate to lose it. Compared to other boards, the ratio of helpful posts to s**t posts is still remarkable. Adult Webmaster Boards, on a whole, have turned into spam boards, which I realize is what you are trying to prevent. Maybe stricter registration? Ideas?
Jan: Hope I'll be in the new board also http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

It's Tim's board, so he will be the one with the fat ass we have to kiss to get in...

Unfortunately there is a fine line between censorship and keeping the board clean. i.e. I could go the other way and delete every post where there is some commercial interest in no matter how vague. And that wouldn't work either.
Though I'll believe I'll start taking a harder line on negative posts about sponsors by non established webmasters on this board.
There are is now over 2000 unique webmasters a day coming to this board I really would like to make as many people happy as possible. Though I don't believe its ever possible to please everyone all the time.
well i agree whole heartedly, the flame posts gotta go. They do no good. Legit topics such as getting screwed out of $12k, now that is an issue. Not flaming some one cause you can't follow rules and your $25 check didn't get sent.

I think it would be great to have an oldie board or a respectable board and if you do somethign stupid you are banned no questions.

I say just start deleting accounts & all the bullshit will stop. As people will stop doing it once they see action is being taken - versus talking about it over and over and nothing ever being done about it.
I feel if you make a completely different board - It will not allow well established and ethical webmasters into the discussions.

this board is good as people say the truth, no ass kissing...
But the problem is that went too far... people started to bash for no reason, without behaving themselves..
over the past few months, it's became bad...
now censorship is not the key, it's the people in general... TOO much of sponsor bashing for stupid things..
Sponsor CAN be right... Sponsors CAN be Honest... as well as they CAN cheat... it's just a matter of seeing both sides...
two exemples of this..
the Mayor thread with Dan, ended in a nice way..
the Josh thread, went out of the line with "lets kick the bastard's ass... where does he live"...
see what I mean?
