Is there software to convert unreadable jpeg to readable?

Are you familiar with this message, trying to open<br />a picture:<br /><br />'The selected file is not a valid photo file.<br />The photo could not be read.'<br /><br />I can manually make the photo readable, but when dealing with dozens this is a waste of time. <br /><br />Is there any software to do this job manually?<br />Can anyone give a link to the software, or a name?<br /><br />Thanks

Can't name you a software. <br />But please tell me how did you do it manually? I tried it also, but couldn't change the code with a normal texteditor. Which program to use?
