I installed the last version that I have downloaded yesterday... and the cjprocalculate.cgi
But I should certainly put a code or a redirect to my index page to count the in, isn'it ?
How can the script count the incoming hits without that ?

thanks

you know that people are supposed to send hits to your cjproin.cgi ?

carbon14
08-17-2001, 08:19 AM
yes, but when someone subscribe to the trade page, CJPro tells him to send visitors to www.my-domain.com... (http://www.my-domain.com...)
So what must I do to setup the script to count visitors ?

The cjpro script is not like the ucj script. All users send traffic through a cgi file and not to your main page. Thats why no hits are being counted.

carbon14
08-17-2001, 08:30 AM
but why CJPro tells the new subscriber to send traffic to root domain ???
someone can tell me another free CJ script ?

when you setup up cjpro
there is an option to send to root or not

go back and change it so it doesnt send to root

then when people signup they will get the correct linking code

Peace!

I just installed it to watch the script, first I would like to use cj ul tra but then you need mysql, and I'm not that good in it..

And everything works fine. http://www.rat-ict.nl/trade.html brings you to my site and count it... Give me your ICQ and I will help you out..

I just installed CJ Pro and it does give you an option to either send to the root domain or through the cgi script I would rather send it to the root domain but there is NO explaination on what to insert (ssi,javascript) into the index page to count hits.Tims says to icq on what to do but him but he never answers.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thor, you do not have to send to cjproin.cgi anymore, they can send directly to the domain.

What you have to do, is upload index.cgi and when you set up your script, have your main page url index2.html (This means when someone goes to yourdomain.com the index.cgi file loads counts the hits, and redirects them to index2.html) I think I know the problem you're having. My particular host at the time would not allow index.cgi to be read as an index file. Contact your host and tell them you want to run your page off of index.cgi as well as htm, html, shtml... You should also be able to do this in htaccess. But anyways, upload index.cgi, go into your cjprosetup, choose the root domain feature, and make your mainpage url index2.html Also make sure you CHRMOD everything correctly.

Hope this helps.

what????lol

uhh...My main index page is named index.shtml due to me having banner rotators on it.So do the people send hits to the index.cgi file or index.shtml?

Sandy
08-29-2001, 05:02 PM
With cjpro you can count you "in" hits trough the index.cgi file, but you must be able to have cgi access outside you cgi-bin. You say that's not possible for you!

in that case you have the, place the java code in the index file. or let the trades send traffic trough the in.cgi file. it's kinda crappy! in.cgi?YOURDOMAINNAME.COM

kinda sux

Okay, so you would change your index.shtml to index2.html and put that in the cjprosetup.cgi as your main page URL (remember that page where you selected all the options when you installed the script) Then, call your host, and tell them you want to run index.cgi outside of your cgi-bin folder and they should be able to make it work for you. Worked for me.

I am able to run cgi outsite of the bin but I just don't get why I would have to rename my index.shtml to index2.shtml?..

Also Sandy what Javascript would I enter in the .shtml file?

strange....

maybe you guys just try use a .htaccess ?

i dont know what a problem here?
or you can use a simple javascript code to get trader domain

It doest not work also for me, I put index.cgi in the htdocs directory and change index.html to index2.html, after I put http://www.mydomain.com/index2.html in the second line of the cj pro setup and do the chmod corectly...

When I go to http://www.mydomain.com all work fine... so the index.cgi work

but in the admin it doest not count the IN and the OUT

I don't understand what is the problem and I don't know what I must do!!!!!!

Before that I was using the long URl method instead of root domain, all work fine but the productivity of all my trade was 0% in the admin... and I received and send traffic with no problem, but I cannot run a CJ site if I cannot see productivity in my trade http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/frown.gif

This should be it

<script language="JavaScript"> <!--
refer=""+escape(document.referrer); function isNotDefined(v) {return((v=="undefined")?true:false);}
if ((isNotDefined(refer)==true)||(refer=="")||(refer=="bookmarks")) {refer="Bookmark";}
else {wl=window.location.href; if(wl.lastIndexOf('/')!=(wl.length-1)) {wl=wl+"/";}
tdr=document.referrer; if(tdr.lastIndexOf('/')!=(tdr.length-1)) {tdr=tdr+"/";}
if(tdr==wl) {refer="na";}} u="refer="+refer; if(document.bgColor!=null)
{ itag="<font color=\""+document.bgColor+"\">"; } else {itag=""; } itag=itag+"<img
height='1' width='1' border='0' alt='' "+"src=\"/cgi-bin/cjpro/cjproin2.cgi?"+u+"\">";
if(document.bgColor!=null) {itag=itag+"</font>";} document.write(itag+"\n");
//--> </script>

laterz sandy

but remember not everyone has java enabled!! so hits may be lost!@

Now I get a 403 forbidden page when I type my domain name in the browser

...You don't have permission to access /index.cgi on this server.

Do you think it is because I have not cgi access outside the cgi-bin directory?

toker
08-30-2001, 05:00 AM
The 403 means its tring to list the dir and index.cgi wont run on your server so contact your host. Also if you get a 500 error and can run the index.cgi remember the chmod 755 has to be done outside the /cgi-bin also.

The whole thing is so simple to setup to be honest maybe because i have installed hundreds of CGIs but dont feel bad i know shit about php though. http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/tongue.gif

If you need an easy explanation it goes a little something like this...

index.cgi takes place of index.html or .hmt .shtm ect..

Inside the index.cgi you can set it to work with anything you want but if you use index.html it will override the index.cgi by default. You can advise your host to change the order if you want to go that route or simply rename to mainpage.html which is what i would do.

Open index.cgi and you see something like this and make sure you have the correct path or it wont count..

require "/usr/yourpath/httpd/cgi-bin/cjpro/cjproconfigure.cgi";&configure;

Now open cjproconfigure.cgi and find these 2 settings below. http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/wink.gif

This points to your in.cgi path..
$rooturl = "http://www.yourdomain/cgi-bin/cjpro/cjproin.cgi";

This points to the page you will use as the index can be anything you want .htm .html .shtml but this is your mainpage that you will send users to..
$mainpageurl = "http://www.yourdomain/mainpage.html";

There is no need for any javascript or other script this should all work fine!

Also this is the same way the other scripts work so it dont matter what you use they all must be setup properly.

If you still have problems ask your host for help and if they cant help or you need any CGI or Perl scripts (No PHP) installed i charge $10 and Up.. CJPro ill do for $10 via paypal and have you running in no time..!!

IMHO you save yourself a ton of trouble and get a much better by using the script whose name is banned from the board
