Not that I think it's going to change anything.
The illegal sites will just come up with new names. However it is interesting that VISA is acknowledging that the problem exists.
Comments would be appreciated.....
quote:

Letter from CCBill
Dear CCBill Customer:

CCBill has always operated under the philosophy that we should not be the policemen and censors of the Internet. Over the years, there have been attempts from a variety of sources to put us in that position. In most cases we have thwarted those attempts, and put the responsibility where it belonged, the courts and the legislative bodies. Unfortunately there are situations where neither you nor CCBill has any control regardless of whether it is right or wrong. As you will see from the
attached letter, Visa has decided that they will no longer process transactions for merchants that use the following terminology to market their product:

Any site that markets or represents itself as a ?Lolita? site
Any site that markets or represents itself as a ?pedo? site
Any site that markets or represents itself as a ?preteen? site

As a result, we are notifying all of our customers that utilize these terms, words, and/or phrases in their URL that effective 5 days from the date of this email you must discontinue the use of these terms, words, and/or phrases voluntarily, or we will be required to stop accepting transaction from those sites.

And the Letter From Visa Corporate:

January 18, 2002
Re: Child pornography

It has been brought to our attention that certain Internet merchants may be settling transactions for illegal child pornography sites within the Visa system. Some of these merchants may market material that does not depict minors but suggests to consumers that minors are involved. Such merchants use specific names readily recognized by those seeking child pornography. These names are widely
published in chat rooms, media circles, are known to law enforcement.

Because child pornography is illegal and a practice condemned by Visa, Acquirers are prohibited from authorizing or settling any Visa transaction that can be associated with actual or ?suggested? child pornography. This prohibition extends to the acceptance of any Visa transaction from a merchant that offers pornography and uses the following terminology to market their product:

Any site that markets or represents itself as a ?Lolita? site
Any site that markets or represents itself as a ?pedo? site
Any site that markets or represents itself as a ?preteen? site

Acquirers must review all accounts within MCC 5967 to ensure that prohibited activity does not enter the Visa system. Should an acquirer discover illegal child pornography the offending site should be referred to Special Agent Doug Hunt who is with the FBI?s Child Porn Task Force. Special Agent Hunt can be reached at 310-996-3612

so there you go, don't fuck about with ehap.org etc.. report direct to the FBI!
