This is the same almost s having a drunk driver behind the wheel, if you let the terrest get an inch he-she will take it now if you prevent the actions of someone getting access to the cockpit or controls you will save many lives maybe the aircraft people will parish but you will save others from such grief. as the WTC hit could have been prevented.

ok first off the jews were there before the palastines and the british.
the british simply gave back what was orignally the jews.
props thought to michaelw for actually "thinking" about this with an open mind and being able to see farther then what the mass media throws in your face.
to WETDOG i am not triing to become your enemy but i hope you are refering to the above address that you left and are thinking that the autopilot idea is a good one and not the part about the FAA not doing enough.
the reason i hope this is because well read this

notice how i feel this would bring about new rules/laws.
and it is but this is not always good the airport ecurity rules here haven't changed for a long time even when terrorists have taken planes and crashed them in other countrys. But here we go now feeling emotional we not only are willing to give up further rights to privacy etc etc but some poeple like you are asking for it.
i wonder what you would say if they had hijacked the plane with needles or a watter bottle. would you blame the FAA for allowing passangers to have a watter bottle ?
my point is making laws when you are emotional is bullshit.
and actually asking congress to make new laws to limit your freedom is just plain stupid in my opinion.
you might think i am stupid you might think, why shouldn't we have more stringent sucurity ?
i got nothing to hide, why should i care ?
but where is the line. do you really want to wake up in 50 years and you can't have shoes made of leather because someone used them to kill a school child.
or maybe you can't buy plasitic wrap because someone used it to kill a popular figure like madonna and the media hyped it up and jammed it into your skull that plastic wrap is wrong.
or maybe just maybe someone hijacks a plane with a water bottle in thier pocket or a small blowgun made with a needle and a straw then what.
i like to be free even if it means i gotta die.
i don't want to live in a police state like china or the ex-USSR etc. etc.
i want my guns
i want needles
i want leather shoes
i want things that sometimes hurt people
i don't want a government that "tells" me what to do becasue i can't fight them.
i don't want facism or communism or any of that other bullshit police state shit.
i want the cameras taken off the damn street lights
i want to be able to say the "bomb" in the airport without going to prison for 5 years.
yes freedom of speech is a good thing.
i want people to be able to drink at 18 sonce they are supposedly "adults" then
i want to be allowed to be a "free" American
i want all the people that shut down the malls and airports etc etc and to those that ask for new rules to be made are the ones that let them win.
you are the ones that aqre causing the terrorists whoever they are to be victorious.
killing the people is one thing but your actions afterwards are what makes this a victory for them regardless if we find and kill them.
so thanks alot for not thinking before you feel emotional and taking freedoms away from my future children.
please allow them to one day say
the land of the "free" and the home of the "brave".

Well lets put this in a old perspective!
The FAA now and the past still has a security on the cockpit worst then your doghouse out back of a local neighbor! the cokpit is very easy to penitrate and that is where i am going with all of this it has been the same for the last 25 years as i have been on 100's of flights and never have seen any improvments on Cockpit Security.. yes it is sad to have a tradgidy like this to make my point but things like this need to be brought forward to prevent furter terrest attacks! if you ge tmy drift.

WETDOG i would prefer that boeing or whatever company makes the plane would be a little smarter about the cockpit surcurity i also wish that United and American airlines would have required better design out of the airline manufacturer.
but i do not want the FAA doing a fucking thing about it other then maybe help all the victims relatives sue the manufacturer and the airlines for useing shit design.
i believe getting emotional and asking for government intervention is not good
i do believe that the airline companys should have learned from the past hijackings and not wait till this huge tragdy happened to make a change.
when we don't take care of our own lives it give the government a chance to tell us how to do it.
and i want them off my fucking back.
ill police myself and mine you do the same and they would have any reason to control us.
thats all

Wouldnt it just be easier if planes were outfitted with a way to remove all the oxygen in the cabin and have everyone pass out in there and land the plane safeley...remove the passengers and have the arabs wake up in a cell on the ground LOL

this topic really bores me lately, but..
The pilot actually came out of the cockpit which allowed him to be overtaken and them to enter the cockpit. Had the pilot not come out they could have never taken over the plane.
Now granted he was probably use to normal proecedure where if there was a distrubance they would come out and see what was causing the problem. But if anything, in the future, the pilots should be instructed to land immediately, not open the door to the cockpit to see what is causing the disturbance.
