ICQ died.......HELP!

I had 2001b with hack to get rid of ads, worked <br />great for several weeks up until yesterday.<br /><br />tried to connect probably 100 times and it seems<br />to connect fine but if I try to send/recieve a <br />message it freezes/locks up and does nothing so<br />I have to do a Ctrl+Alt+Delete to get it to close<br />which takes a few tries because it doesnt respond.<br /><br />I upgraded to the new 2002a last night and no luck,<br />so tried again this morning and got this popup?<br /><br />Microsoft Visual C++ Library<br />C:\Program Files\ICQ\ICQ.EXE<br />abnormal program termination<br />CLOSE/CANCEL<br /><br />Only thing I have done new was download M$ security<br />patches a couple days ago.........<br /><br />what to do???????<br /><br />somebody please give me some ideas here

Try uninstalling it completely and do a fresh install?

same problem over here a few weeks ago, it might be that you went over 600#'s...<br /><br />atleast that was my problem. after that it didn't started, or anything, i lost my whole damn db... luckily i still had some #'s in icqlite.

I had this happen a few weeks ago. <br /><br />The DB was currupt and wouldnt start most of the time and when it did, I couldn't send messages.<br /><br />Uninstalled, reinstalled. And since i was using 2001b all I lost was my history(which hurt) but that was it.....

I have this same exact problem with the latest version and now that i think about it i did update IE before it happened. I have reinstalled and tried just about everything but it wont work. <br /><br />I get about 5 mins then it crashes every time.

problem solved.....thanks everyone!<br /><br />I uninstalled and reinstalled 2002a with all<br />the new 3-D smilies <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="biggrin.gif" /> <br /><br />works fine now and seems faster than 2001b<br /><br />anyone have a hack for 2002a that removes the<br />ads?

The ads aren't a big deal.<br /><br />Do you want surfers to remove ads from your site too?
