i downloaded virtualdub. to work with mpg's, "virtual dub requires a video for windows (vfw) compatible codec to decompress video."<br /><br />where do i get one? i'm at microsoft doing searches, but my extreme lack of knowledge seems to indicate there are none here.<br /><br />thanks!

try download in windows media tools ...<br /><br />you can these tools from their website.<br /><br />if that doesnt work then you might have to go a'huntin'<br /><br /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="biggrin.gif" /> <br /><br />laters,<br />Chris

Basschick, Google always works for me when i need some codecs or stuff like that.. <br />Just put in video for windows codec and you should get some useful results <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="smile.gif" />

Might help to just download the newest Windows Media player!<br /><br />Usually adds all the codecs you need.

i have THE newest media player... according to virtualdub's screen that came up when i tried to open an mpg, the media player codecs won't work here... i need some other codec and i have no fucking clue.

If you have premiere try cleanerEZ.<br /><br />Sounds like you have an MPEg thats not using the right codec..<br /><br />Or open it in Quicktime Pro and edit there....<br /><br />Just 2 other thoughts for you.......
