View Full Version : News Update from Gib
To: All GIB Customers
Ref: Chargit Plug-In and the 070 Network
Date: April 1, 2001
Dear customer,
As you may have already heard, GIB has developed a self-updating, revolutionary plug-in dialer technology that is now ready for launch. GIB is confident that this major technological breakthrough will significantly increase revenue for our customers.
Over the next week or so, GIB will be issuing an individual URL link for all current customers to href in place of their old .exe files. The prefix of each of these links will be identical, however the final 4 or 5 digits of each link will be your current ID #. Your ID # can be seen by logging into your stats area at www.clientstats.com (http://www.clientstats.com)
Attached is a detailed explanation of what the new Chargit Plug-In entails, and how it will benefit all GIB customers.
Furthermore, the second part of this announcement is in regards to the 070 (UK mobile network), which is being used by nearly every "dialer" service bureau. In short, as of midnight GMT time GIB will comply with all rules set forth by ICSTIS and Oftel in relation to 070 dialing codes. As a result, the 070 network carrying traffic outbound for mostly third world nations will cease at that time. In any event, ICSTIS will take regulatory action against all service providers operating on 070 dialing codes and will commence enforcement from Monday 2 April 2001. All GIB customers will be paid IN FULL for all 070 traffic run up to April 1. (The day the network will go down) A more detailed explanation of the regulatory situation is also attached to this e-mail.
We are expecting to support about 30 countries in our new plug-in dialer as a result of the 070 network going down. We are actively searching for new terminations to replace the routes previously carried on the 070 network, and will update the new Chargit Plug-In on the fly as new solutions become available. Again, we want to stress that adding new routes will simply be an internal change and will not require customers to make any changes on their end.
Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to continuing to develop cutting edge technology for the benefit of our customers.
Presenting the Chargit Plug-in
Release date April 1, 2001:
How does this differ from just another dialer?
The Chargit plug-in is a self - updating, completely dynamic and totally maintenance free system. Every time an end user runs the Chargit plug-in, the plug-in first checks with GIB’s master server for any system updates or network changes. This includes new countries added to the software, new Telco routes, content changes, new banners and/or icons, new end user warnings, etc. All this information can be immediately changed on the fly, without the IP ever having to lift a finger. Furthermore, GIB can make retroactive changes to existing Chargit plug-in dialers that have previously been downloaded on end users machines. This way, the IP will never lose residual minutes as a result of a Telco route change.
Why does the Chargit Plug-in convert better than regular dialers?
Once the end user clicks on the IP’s individual Chargit plug-in link, the end user’s browser and OS is automatically detected. Depending on the end user’s browser type and OS, an auto download process as certified by Microsoft Authenticode, or Netscape Object Signing is presented. Once accepted, the Chargit plug-in automatically downloads, installs and launches. If the end user declines the auto download process, an HTML instruction page presents a step-by-step walk through process for manually downloading and running the Chargit plug-in. All of this is already built into each IP’s individual URL link for a maximum download to call efficiency rate. As a result, we have seen a 20% increase in conversion with the new Chargit plug-in comparison to other standard dialer .exe files.
How do I set the Chargit plug-in up?
The Chargit plug-in dialer installation is painless, simple and best of all; there will never be a need for the IP to swap out dialer .exe files ever again. In fact, the Chargit plug-in installs just as easily as the well-known Shockwave flash player. All the IP must do is href a link that GIB will provide you. The IP doesn't even have to host an .exe file any longer.
What’s the bottom line?
The bottom line is that this is a major technological breakthrough for gaining revenue through pay per view “dialer” mechanism. Webmasters will simply have better conversions, maximize their traffic, and therefore make more money. GIB clients will also no longer have to deal with the hassles of dealing with dialer rebuilds, or swapping out .exe files ever again.
Please be sure that if you are using your own content that
You have all of the following IP’s open to our Network.

Does this so called plug in dialer have an icon appear on their desktop like the exe dialers?
Also how is it a browser plug in? I guess that's what I'm mainly confused about.
I'm guessing it will work like that active x stuff that is floating around. If the surfers browser is on the low settings it automaticly downloads if not it shows up a page asking if you trust the content.
If that is what they mean then for me it didn't work very well. Though I have heard that it does work for a lot of people.
Does that mean you won't be able to rename your dialer? Like how now we can name them hotsex.exe or whatever? If the surfer sees something like 76876879.jar or whatever the file is called.... won't that make minutes go down?

The plugin will be a link now, that is on gibs servers.
When a surfer clicks on the link the dialer is donwloaded and then pops up on the screen.
This takes out the step when the surfer has to go looking inside there harddrive for the dialer they just downloaded.
Many surfers are not that bright.
This plugin will add another 20% to your top mintues.
Thank you t-Bone thats correct.. Like i said shold be during the new week...

Okay so this dialer is a plugin. What's the big difference between this plugin dialer and a Active X dialer that niteline uses?
richard

not much http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/wink.gif.
I think the difference (i believe) is that you don't have any of the files, they are served directly from the GIB servers. This allows them to automatically update them, save you from messing about with complex scripts et cetera.
Perhaps a good idea, perhaps not, will be interesting to see the end results.

Candid-
Just read the above post. The active X (auto download feature)feature is just ONE aspect that is BUILT IN to the plug-in dialer. The webmaster does not have to mess around with java scripts etc, to get the active X feature working properly. That's already built into the plug in.
More importantly,as stated above, the plug-in is the only dialer that can change all aspects of the dialer on the fly. New countries added to the software, new Telco routes, content changes, new banners and/or icons, new end user warnings, etc.
And get this, GIB can make RETROACTIVE changes to existing Chargit plug-in dialers that have previously been downloaded and/or used on end users machines.
For example, if an end user downloads a dialer that has a price point of $2.99/min today, and we get a better, viable, more consumer friendly solution that costs the end user $.99/min, we can change the route internally and new warning on the fly. You don't have to swap out .exe files anymore.
This is clearly the future of dialers, the plug in just converts better and makes the whole process a hell of a lot slicker and easier!
quit talking about it and send me my damn dialer already!

Global Internet Billing,
That's quite slick. Now what do you think will happen to dialers once broadband takes over in 4-5 years? Is GIB working on a broadband solution by any chance?
