Host under 3$ ?

Like the subject says, I'm searching for a good host with less then 3$ per GB (on dedicated server).

- dieselspace has 3$
- vector-space 3.2$ (3$ if you use more then 1 mbit)
- TwinTone plans to start hosting company with 2$ per GB, but who knows when

Any other closer to 2$ with good reputation like those 2 on the top?

I am using www.321host-it.com (http://www.321host-it.com) right now, and they are great. The price is about 1.75-1.8/gb

Hm.... that will be little harder!
I plan on using about 5-10 GB per day on start, but will probably go over 20/day in first 2 months! If all works well I'll use more then that.

Btw, how must can PIII 800 - 256 ram handle per day?

my host offers a 1.1 mbps line for $450 or a 1.5 for $600. this does not include the server, but you can rent one cheap there.

i had a pentium2 450 with 256 mg of ram and did over 20 gig a day on it - we had over 200,000 uniques a day.

A P3 / 800 w/ 256mb ram (if correctly tuned) can handle about 4mb/s of bandwidth if there isn't any excessive usage of cgi or php (with mysql) scripts. If there is, you should consider getting more RAM up-front. The CPU surely won't make any problems with such numbers.

5-10GB / day is about 1mb/s bandwidth (capped). 20GB / day is then about 2mb/s of capped bandwidth.

What hosts charge soley on gb, kind of like prohosters. No set up fee, no minimum monthly fee, just gb, does anyone??

I know, but I don't want a capped line. Will check candidhosting right now to see what they have to offer.

And yes, 2 mbit lines can handle 20GB/day only in theory! But site will be dead slow then!

i asked the folks that host our dedicated if they would put together something for galleries and such - i told them that $2.50 a gig, linux os would be perfect.

they said they'll try and get a box up for virtual in the next day or two...
