If you are good at photoshop 6.0 can you make this thing

I'm trying to make this reflective sphere

But in step 3 it says click on the preserve transparancy. Well in photoshop 6.0 its not on the layers palatte. What do i do can you guys make this. I'm new with this program and don't know how to make it please give me some assistance

Im not familiar with PS6 but with 5.5 it wasnt a problem.

I think this will answer your question. Photoshop 6 is a touch different than 5.5 or 5.
