First of all, let me state again that I haven't had any layers on my site since the first time we had this discussion (November), and I have never had more than 2 consoles plus my exit.
While I agree that setting some guidelines should help overall traffic quality, there are other factors that I think we all need to think about.
First - nobody can disagree that there has been a HUGE influx of new sites over the last couple months. The majority of the sites that have contacted me for trades have been full of layers, unclosable windows, huge console chains, delayed consoles: you name it, I saw just about every dirty trick in the book.
Even more frightening is that when you ask how they're feeding their site thay have no idea what you're talking about.
I've added maybe 5 new trades in the last 2 months. Still - it doesn't matter if I trade with them. If someone I do trade with trades with them then it f*cks me all the same. Any fresh traffic I feed my site with just gets diluted between the sites that have none of their own.
Secondly - I think exit traffic is killing us. I have nothing against EMI or MrBrian. I've used them, they're a good reliable company and I have always been treated well. But, like I said, I have one main page and 2 consoles. On exit, my exit traffic goes to a sponsor who spawns 6 new windows. How can I be a productive trade for ANYONE when my exit buries the sending site under 6 new windows?
I sure like getting paid for something as simple and shitty as exit traffic, but it's killing me.

Look carefully at the daily stats, monthly stats, and then, if you want a good cry check out the yearly stats.
Right after I finish posting this, I'm going to take down my exit traffic link and just pop a banner farm onexit. I'll bet you a dollar that I become a much more productive trade. But will it help my site recover from the massive losses I've taken over the past month? Probably not. Because enough of my trades are burying me under 6 windows on exit. Enough of the people I trade with are trading with sites with no traffic of their own. And because there are sponsors who will still buy traffic from sites regardless of the number of consoles/layers, traffic quality will continue to suffer.
These are just the facts as I see them. Feel free to flame me to your heart's content. Hopefully you can convince me that I'm totally off track here.
