Win 2000 was the best I used, still love it. I tried XP for 6 months before it hit the store, still using it. It's good. Only 1 blue screen in almost a year, and I work 18 hours a day on my pc.

The 95 kernel (DOS BASED) allocates memory in useless stacks, where as the 2k/XP/NT kernel pulls resources from unallocated stacks making resource errors minimal. For an example of what I mean, update an old clinker PC running 95 to Win2k (fresh install) and see what I mean. It is like a hardware upgrade!

I use Win2k for my workstation and Mandrake Linux for my server.

Oh also Win 95 only allows 2GB partitions, hardcoded, regardless of your BIOS version. So if you did try this out you would get some surprising results. I had to partition a 40GB harddrive 20 times on my GF's PC because she is too much a creature of habit {or a techno phobe} to upgrade to a new OS.
It was terrible. But I have to admit, 95 was a great addition and paved the way to mainstream multitasking GUIs. Bill didn't get rich for no reason...

nice infos ..
I know about that win95 limits, I wanted to talk about speed. MS product made a "habit" - if I can call it this way, new products work slower on same hardware comparing the one before it
