I was just wondering if any of you had any experience registering .tv domain names.
I was searhcing them, hoping to find a top level .tv domain name, and when I found it (not going to mention the name) they said that I would have to register it out for 6,500 dollars a year.
Any idea on this?? Are .tv domain names valuable?

Is not weird. TV domains are usually sold at different prices, depending on how good the name sounds. That's their marketing.
I think is better to give up on this, Bramdaman is right, there are a few chances that someone who is searching for porn to type "sex.tv". Better buy a good damn .com

DotTV is a complete ripoff.
Yes, you can register a .tv for $50 about anywhere on the net... if it is really useless crap domain name.
Their system charges more (read way way more) if your domain as any potential. If it is short, more money, if it is a dictionnary word or it actually means something, even more money. $50 is for igotacrappydomain.tv...
Just an example: crap.tv costs 5,000$ per year?!?
I mean... I wouldn't even buy that domain for $5,000 with a normal renewing fee of $10-$50 per year... so imagine paying 5,000$ every single year... damn... make yourself a favor... take the money for the next 5 years for that domain ($25,000) and go buy crap.com... better looking, more professionnal, more type-ins ect... and it will renew at $10 per year after 5...
