While I agree that women are a very strong force in the working force now and I agree that we should be able to have the same rights men do in that force...... I agree with all of that. I honestly do!!

I grew up as a little girl and I was TOLD I wasn't as important as my brother, basschick...... I was told this each and everyday by my own dad.... so I know more than anyone how this feels...... however, I don't think WE have the right to make someone change lyrics in a song that they did NOT write or assist in writing..... that's just uncool........

My husband writes songs and I help on some of them and if I wrote a song and years down the road if someone came up and demanded that I change the lyrics in MY song to suit their own needs and desires, then I am afraid I'd have to tell them the nearest bridge they could jump off on and I'd even offer help in pushing them........ I just don't think we as HUMANS, male or female have the right to tell someone how they can write their music and what lyrics they can use.

There are many many many other more important things that can be accomplished for women with the energy that this woman is putting into this........ it's just MY opinion as I said......... maybe I am seeing it differently as you all do, but as a HUMAN, I see no point in telling ANYONE how they can or cannot write their music.

Let's face it folkes, it's a song. Written a long time ago by and for a bunch of closed minded victorian men who were just too ignorant to know any better.

Is changing the lyrics of a song going to change the amount of women beaten, abused and neglected by their mates or by society in general? No.

No matter what is in the national anthem, people are going to think and act the way they are unless they are educated to believe otherwise, so could say it all begins with something as symbolic as a song, but I can see many other avenues which could use all this time and all the resouces spent to change one word of song that, if canadians are like americans, most people don't even know besides for the first and maybe last line.

Actually Tam you are right....but I would think that womens lib has corrupted judgement now...think about this:
