anybody knows of a serial-USB connector

I have a serial device to plug on my laptop. new laptops from toshiba dont have that old serial ports. Is there any way to have a USB that will make me the serial port, anybody tried this?

They have adapters in most electronic stores (bestbuy, circit city) Its goes from USB > Parallel. It costs about $50.. linksys(brand name) i believe has one out.
If your comp has the USB and what you want to attach has a parallel then this will work. But you cannot go from parallel to USB, its impossible. only USB to parallel
