don't worry, it's good enough, buy maybe you'd purchase 'the hobbit' first, it's the prequel to the lord of the rings, and it will make you understand it a lot better.
and if you have to purchase, there are paperback editions with the full trilogy at amazon for $10.

enjoy.

I read "The Hobbit" & "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy years ago. I can't wait to see the movie on large screen. One good thing about the movie is that Tolkien's books are all being reprinted. The local Wal-Mart's had about a dozen Tolkien books which is more fantasy books than they had stocked for twelve years. I bought every thing but "The Hobbit" & the LOTR books since I already had them. Spent about $30 which is more than I had spent on books around here for ages.

Ah, to read good books again...

My dear comrades (boneprone dixit) you MUST start by The Silmarillion, then The Hobbit and then The Lord of the Rings. That's all about it :)

Tolkien was amazing!

A professor of Ancient Languages and Mythology at Oxford University.

It took him 14 years to write all of the books.

My 3rd grade teacher read The Hobbit out loud to our class and i was hooked (shit, that was almost 30 years ago).

Also saw a good documentary on the making of the movie and it looks awesome. The director is brilliant and the movie will definately do the book justice.

Two Thumbs Up. Way the fuck up.

I have been waiting soooo long for this film! I was given The Hobbit when i was 10yo and was blown away, I didn't get to read LoTR until about a year later - it took me a week to get through!
