Here is a quick question i have!
Say you own a pay site and have a refferal program, for example you use IBILL as your billing processor and the program is per sign up or recurring..
is their any way that they can shave ratios-sign ups-rebills ??
As i get this question asked many times per week. pay site owners are welcomed to tell your tricks if you have shaved anyone in the past..just log in with a bogas name.. if you are a shaver ripp off artist.

From within the admin are for the program why could'nt they just set the account to ' suspend ' and then the sale would be credited to the root account - Which would be the program owner. And at will turn accounts on and off?
Though I would feel much safer useing programs that let you pull directly from the processors stats instead of having a script that interfaces with the processor and you then pull from stats running on the program's side.
I'll set up an account tonight and test this theory tonight...

i think it is possible theoretically (you could ask ibill) BUT ibill makes their money with their rep. if you did this more than a couple times, i imagine they would not be very happy with you.
i also believe that if you asked ibill, who always answers my emails, they'd tell you if that happened. there are records each time a change is made, even if you change it back.
Are you talking they use Ibill as a processor but use their own program software or use Ibills stats?

The goal as a paysite owner is to get as many people to promote your site as possible. If a paysite owner shaved his webmasters signups then they won't be so happy with the program and would go elsewhere.
By its self defeating nature I suspect there would be very few successful programs shaving signups.
Basicly it is very easy to shave using whatever processor, IBill, CCbill etc.
IE. a Ibill sponsor they can just remove your refferer ID on the signup page. BAM no no credits for you.
That can be done random, specifik time of the day etc.
Also some do not carry your refferer ID if they cannot see a reffering URL that is aprox 10%-20% being shaved that way. They call it "spam traffic blocker" or something like that. Really need.
When I use a new sponsor I always try and go through their site all possible ways I can think on and each time I end up on their signup page I check the source code to see if my refferer ID is in the source or not. If not I don't use that sponsor.

I've been told at Internet porn conventions there are guys walking around offering to sell scripts that shave iBill sign-ups.... I think it's true, though I've never been to the conventions.

What is there to stop IBILL itself from shaving both the sponsor and the affiliate?
Rimmer: your point about a sponsor's reputation makes sense, but sponsors try their best to make evaluating their performance as confusing as possible, by doing crap like counting 2nd page uniques for ratio's.

Well the WORD "SHAVING" had to come from somplace! i hear that webmasters all over are getting shaved a lot these days do to to many free sites out their so they do a bit of Shaving to keep their economy up.
There needs to be some sort of anti shaving program i would guess that would work. maybe a new billing company that wont let the webmaster change anything once it is set.
Just a thought.

while we had an active member site, we occassionally heard from members. if your credit card processors shave, they will get caught the first time someone emails you with a problem - and you have no record of their membership.
i can't speak for ibill, but ccbill gives you the names of each member as they join, so you'd know.

It's real easy to tell if an ibill revshare program is shaving. Just view source on the ibill signup page and see if your account number is there.
I think Ibill is the only partner processor that you can do that with.

btw, ctc shaves. i had a topcash account, and i got a signup before sending any hits, so i had a 1:0 ratio. someone told me that it's a part of mechanism that shaves signups but randomly credits you with some from time to keep the ratio good.
