Is there a place to findout what countries particular IP ranges come from? Because I want to write a script that will auto install the apropiate dialer, rather than having them select their country http://adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

There's no sure way to get that. But if you have the IP you can (for most IPs) also get the hostname for this IP and this has the countrycode in it so you can use that. But there's no way to associate certain IP-blocks with certain countries.

I saw this used on Altavista.com the other day.

I went to the site and a popup came up saying altavista.co.uk would give me more relevant results.

Write a script that analyses your logs of IPs, and looks up the hostname details for you, have it give you an admin that you goto each day and decide which country the ip block is coming from then categorise it.

Still a bitch to do. A good one was to have the flags... so a surfer clicks on their flag.

Yea the countries are hard to figure out, but for those who just want to track down people by IP you can use:
http://www.arin.net/whois/arinwhois.html

Its not specific in Overseas but it at least tells you where they are dialing in from.

Shane-

Just wondering if you were ever able to find a sloution.

Is there an easy way to find out which country, even break it down to city? For example, what if I want to pop an ad in spanish for surfers coming from spain, an ad in italian for italian surfers etc. Can a script be written to do this?

Any thoughts?
