I was playing with the idea of using the shopping cart. But this doesn`t sound cool...

most of what both websites say are inaccurate, or out of date. And the only things that are accurate are the fact that they do charge 2.9 % commision fees on every transaction.
these pages were made by people who lick their bosses ass for a living, and are complaining that pay pal as a company makes 7+ million per month. These are the safe types of people who complain that there's banners on adult websites.

it is pretty shitty to run a financial institution with basically zero customer service though. Paypal doesn't even have a phone # for you to contact them.

I've talked to them many times.

Dan I think you'd be just find going ahead with the shopping cart for paypal.. I read those sites and agree with other webmasters here, it's bullshit.
I've recently discovered the subscription based program at paypal and got it working on my paysite.. It's great!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I recently read a CNET article that PayPal is losing money ...
Apparently it's the reason they charged more fees ...

Big processors with this Top Notch support cost about 12% - 18% and paypal has saved me lots of money on processing payments. Ive processed thousands with them and never have lost any money like what these sites claim.
Furthermore i know quite a few companies who run their business thru paypal and i just never heard bad things. If a large US Bank lost your money and you dont have deposit recipts your screwed just the same as any paypal.

I've used them since they branched off from x.com, and I can't say that I've had one complaint at all.

I had one bad deal a year ago where they wouldn't cover it.
I paid $1000 for a virtual item and the person I paid was a verified user, back then they were promoting heavily that if the person was verified you were 100% protected.
Well the guy did this 10-15 times and then disappeared. They claimed that since I did not ship anything I was not protected.
Since then I've done probably 10k through them with 1 chargeback. Billpoint I had 5 chargebacks and only did like 20 transactions through them.

I kind would like to say this about paypal:
THEY SUCK
They froze my account with a few thousand bucks in it saying i needed to send them more info.
I had to Fax them my Social Security, my Credit Card Statement, My Bank Statement, My Driver Licence,
The only thing that they didnot ask for is my DNA and Urine sample
But thats just my experience.

The only thing I found that sucks about PayPal is they do a double hold on any money you send. Lets say you have $1000 in your bank account. You PayPal someone $600 (plus the fees.) Well, you will find that after the transaction, your bank will give you an "unavailable funds charge" because in actuality, PayPal posted $1200+ change out of your account. The hold on the other $600 is then released after about a week. This also sucks because you can't use that $600 other dollars that are posted on active hold... Just make sure you have twice as much money as you are sending, and them some.

I tried to setup their shop on my content site.
Signing up was easy and they give you the codes right away. So after doing 50 pages with their codes and uploading them to my server i was about to open my shop.
I had to change a couple of things and thats when i found out i cant login to my shop anymore.
First i need be a paypal member for 3 months and i need a 10 transactions history.
The fuckers dont tell that upfront, they let you enter your store for the first time and get all your button codes and after that you cant login anymore.
I was completely pissed and asked for a possible solution, i got a copy and paste mail back with the same stuff as on their help pages. I replied and asked for a real person answer but ofcourse they cant handle that and didnt answer at all. Stupid buttmunches!

Donger you should read the whole article instead of reading the website which is linking to it. They took small excerpts/quotes from the article which obviously sounds rediculous because we dont know the whole story behind it. The article clearly states the reason why they make the phone number hard to find. It also claims that they went from 5 customer service reps to 400+ now.
Mind you that article is dated Jan 4th. I would have to agree with the paypal spokesman, when a company of that size is making it big there will always be slandering and bashing going on.
And the article is full of shit. I took this form the MSNBC article.
****
"In the interim, Nielsen said companies need to protect against big fraud schemes - like a computer automatically signing up a million fake accounts on PayPal and collecting $5 each in referral fees - but be willing to eat the cost of some individual fraud."
****
It clearly states on paypals website that in order to receive the 5$ referral fee the person you referred MUST become an active user.
In all the article is full of shit, and paypal rocks :)
