I know of no cases of being sued however I know a few webmasters that would find an individual and break their legs. :)

Well, i've read an article on ZDnet about 1.5 years ago... Leo (the owner of ultrapasswords.com - biggest xxx passwords site) was sued and had to pay 100,000$...

i hope it helps :)

What are the names/links to software to preven this? Like if x many logins in 5 mins the account is deactivated etc. I have a buddy that his site keeps getting passwords posted on these shitty password sites. It appears they use brute force and just try random login/pass until they get one(granted all done by a script and proxies)

Thanks

This is something that's always puzzled me.
No doubt I'm missing something obvious, but how difficult can it be to detect that 2 or more different IP's using the same user/pw combos have logged in during the last "x" amount of minutes?

BTW Not to cast accusations here, but anyone out there who has used these password sites before, then complains about them later, is doomed to hell... :)

That would be the same Leo, spycam :)

Locking out passwords that appear with multiple ip's in a given period of time isn't the key, tho it helps once the pass gets out.

The brute hacking is a huge drain on resources for most paysites.

Are you wanting to sue someone or is someone threatening to sue you? ;)

I remember Brad Shaw was going after Leo a while ago. Anyone knows how that story ended up?
