I know how to build a website, i know how to build galleries, i know how to upload everything, i know how not to cheat and still get traffic and i have a knowledge about computerstuff.. But i dont know a thing about hosting and/or servers.
If someone says, that i can have a server with/at 3 mbit/sec with no bandwidth limit.. what does this mean. That bandwidth i know that speaks for itself, but that 3 mbit/sec?? Is this good/bad ?? what????
3mb/second means you can do no more bandwidth than that, if you try it will slow down. its roughly 1000 gigs of transfer a month.
its good cause you know you cant go over that but it depends what you need it for.
its good depending on the price and what kind of server.

3mb/second good line for galleries...
but for cj/tgp better take normal account without any bandwith limit

Hm.. i will use it for http://www.rons-thumbnailpost.com (cjII/Tgp) but if i must believe you Diesel isnt that a good thing??
I mean, if 3 mbit/sec is like 1000gigs a month then it must be enough i guess. I have the plan to put more content on that site, such as complete series. My site gets still 10K - 15K a day but it grows by the day.. (except sundays.. thats always a shitday.. http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/smile.gif )
Of course i can use that sort of deals with free hosting, no bandwidth etc for exit traffic exchange but my goal is to keep Ron's Thumbs as clean as possible.
1000 gigs a month is quit much i guess. But as i said... from this part of the bizz i dont know nothing.. well at least not much...

Megabits per second is a measure of the size of the pipe connecting your server to the outside world. It determines the maximum amount of traffic that can flow through at any one moment.
Gigabytes is a measure of the total amount of traffic that has flowed through the pipe (in both directions) over a period of time.
So when someone tells you that a 3Mbps pipe can transfer 1000Gb in a month, they are talking about its theoretical capacity.
In real life, your traffic is subject to peaks at certain times of the day and on certain days of the week. Even if your total transfer is as low as, for example, 200Gb a month, there might be times when the demand is higher than a 3Mbps connection can cope with properly.
An uncapped (or burstable) connection based on Mbps will, all else being equal, deliver high performance at all times. BUT if your traffic pattern is very erratic, it may produce high peaks and a big bill, even if your total transfer is not huge.
Your best bet at this stage is probably to find a host who gives you a solid connection that can handle at least 4.5Mbps and charges you based on gigabytes of data transfer.
I have been with Mike at http://www.xcite.net for over 2 years, and he has both virtual and dedicated hosting provided on this basis.
Don't take a capped or "unlimited" Mbps account unless your desire to limit your expenses is stronger than your need for consistent performance.

With your traffic, you should go with virtual host or semi-ded server... u don't get enough to have big host ... when you will grow you will have to get a dedicated . but its not needed before http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/smile.gif
