When it comes to design?

with a lot of threads about designs lately, I have a question, maybe someone care to discuss?
Adult designs close to real paysite quality require lot of hours, art work and very extensive graphics work. They cost a lot. Not many people would want to pay that.
On the other hand, cheap designs seems like more popular these days - but the guy who does it cheap - acts like a production machine, not an artman. You can't expect a masterpiece for $300.

So what exactly deal these days? do you expect adult designs to be cheap and average, or expensive and super-looking, or what?

I can make very average graphics, at a cost to my time which is justifiable.

I can also make pretty graphics, but it takes me aaaaaaaaages.

The way i look at it, if i want a site to look good, and i can't afford my time to work on it, then i'm prepared to pay to have it done.

Which in most cases means i want good looking graphics, so pay good money.

Good design = good sales = good profit

However, it does not depend on design quality but on the advertising methods...

There are advertisers, who can sell Tampax for men :D


But in other hand, good looking site makes an impression of a good and successful company (who owns it) for surfer. When it sees good graphics and good quality pictures - he's willing to get the same quality inside of members area so he's going to buy membership to it...

One more thing:
good design does not mean expensive design

Top web design companies charge 2,500$-3,000$ per paysite design. And there are independent designers who charge 500$-600$ per paysite design...

It's like to buy a Sony TV and something like Daewoo

Name rises the price, prestige rises the price, guaranties rise the price, support rises the price...

Good Graphics doesn't Always mean Good Sales...Depends ALOT on the type of site.

Pornstar sites good graphics are important, but amateur type sites tend to convert better with crappy graphics. IMHO... ;)

I did designs before, wich i would never
place in the portfolio...,
but the client requested it that way.
and the site does fucking great... :)

it really depends per Niche how your design should look like.

also colours and/with the babes are very important.

dont want to mess with wrong colours with wrong haircolours/skincolours and so on.

I have learned a lot from our office designer about that specific stuff.
He studied graphics for 7 years.

Also very important is the way the main model looks at you.
One of the most important ones.
a great design can consist out of 1 very good looking model (and then i mean the way she looks at the surfer, depending on the niche), and some subgraphics and make very very good money.

therefor i do think the prices for good design are too low atm. p
People want 1 splashpage for 100$, but they do want to make 50.000 with it.. well, if you want to make money, you have to spend it.

Its harder then you think to make a good converting design. and i say converting because beautifull doens't have to be converting.

but then again, members area should look perfect :D

they used to run so called 'tokens' when you show like very light version of your members area for certain period of time. I think that never worked out

oh, I forgot to mention, right now I'm backlogged about a month and I need to get a full deposit before I can add you to my list of upcoming jobs, there is no guarentee I will be able to do you design, deposit is non refundable. :D
