Is there really money to be made?

After lots of attempts to make money from a warez site, and i'm getting 1 million+ hits per week, I have totally lost faith. So many webmasters telling me they make shitloads of money with less traffic than my site, are they all bullshitting?
Is a CJ site any better?

In the golden warez times the biggest sites had about 200k maximum per day and there is not even one out there anymore that has these numbers.
But I have to say that I'm talking about uniques and maybe Snake is talking about one golden day as he reached 1 million raw somehow. I mean TheHun has also 3,5 million hits/day according to this calculation.

one of the most shit warez sites ive ever seen. 100k/day ? hehe try 35-40k

Firstly pimpx, easywarez, rozman etc....are all sites of yesteryear all living off reputation now. Pimpx can barely pull 15k/day anymore and easywarez is 1/5 the size it use to be. Can't even get #1 on any toplist anymore. Im not saying e-warez is the biggest warez site or anything but it's surely larger than these sites.

The largest warez sites in order from largest to smallest:
Imaginers

e-warez
easywarez

The largest warez sites ever:
Easywarez with a record 140k/day (yes they got that much)
Happyhippo - 110k/day (dam good for a surfer friendly site I might add)
Imaginers 75-80k/day

These are the right stats. I've been around and talked ot each of the webmasters and not just going by dumbass rumors that webmasters like to talk amongst themseleves.

Of course I can't be positive about anything lower than the ones above. There aren't any huge warez sites right now but that will eventually change as everybody is doing new things everyday.

As for people that are afraid of microsoft right now, there is no need to be. Godabuzz is being sued because of his own stupidity and I don't feel sorry for him. There are a lot of stupid but necesary rules you've gotta follow when running a warez site.

1: Never say you or anybody associated with your site uploaded files......you don't know how they got there and all you're doing is linking.
2: Don't post serials (very stupid)

Those are the main 2 rules that will keep you out of trouble.......oh and dre, you never got 80k/day pal : )

This is the first time i'm posting here because i'm going through what Snake Hollywood is going through. It's getting pretty hard to run a warez site these days. A surfer friendly must have
1. no popups or maybe one
2. no porn
3. no misleading links

and that's annoying for sites starting out. I am working on a new warez site. I have done a flash intro for it and it's running on a script. I am starting out surfer friendly using backupcds as my main sponsor. 10 cents a click (anybody has any better sponsors). If this one doesn't work then that's it, i'm done with this warez biz. I'll start like a couple of cj sites. I know i can manage a couple of CJ sites. When u got a warez site u gotta upload stuff and fix links everyday. Imagine e-warez, he gets one borken link = 20 emails. It's really hard to stay surfer friendly trust me u got a wait a long time to get quality hits. I have been doing warez since liquidwarez was the shit.

I am a professional web developer for a living and have my own company, I just happen to have a warez site on the side. This means I have shitloads more knowledge than you on webservers, mailservers, ftp servers, bandwidth, server adminsitartion and all such thing and I certainly don't rely on it for income nor is it my sole purpose of existance, which it obviously is in your case.
I can obviously show you a list of websites I have built and designed, e-commerce systems I write and clients I host.... What can you show me other than your lame warez website????

it is kind of wierd that this subject came up. I personally have been debating over starting a warez/password topsites for the last couple of months, even went as far as registering the domains. AND NO, I am not 13; I will be 29 on Aug 31st.

My key goal was to drive traffic into my porn sites and nothing more but I got a little worried because of the stigma of running a warez/password site and possible having trouble with my sponsors even though I didn't plan on using any on either sites.

But what I finally decided on was that I am in the business of generating traffic and as long as I follow a few ground rules I should be fine

1. make sure that when someone is clicking on a link that they know they are going to a porn site --- it sounds retarded but there is a gentleman that has posted in this particular thread that was sending CJ trades from his warez site with link of "CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD PHOTOSHOP", it was complete and utter shit traffic.

2. understand that there is only a limited number of sponsors that will allow you to advertise their site on a warez/password site -- so research a sponsor before throwing up their banners

3. if you decide to send it to your own free porn site, make sure that it has no open content -- don't want the kiddies seeing mommy getting gangfucked by three big black men -- so, sending it to an AVS or CJ (preferrably yours) will be the best idea

my god, it took me forever to finally finish reading this long ass fucking 4 page thread. Well, i'd just like to say, yes i am a 15 year old warez webmaster, but unlike most of the other little kids here that just go for the big buck in warez, i didn't. I made a small site, not too big, max. hit was about 19k/day.. I've been dealing with my site among other sites i started up with like the E.D.D.A. WarezMillenium.com the ORIGINAL Direct Downloads Warez(yeah, I made that first site, but dumb ass me, I didn't buy the domain) and, well, I've only made a total of $20.00USD from sponsors in 4 years.. 4 long ass fucking years working my ass off, not leeching, not stealing layouts. Well, i'm starting off my site again, and it seems like yes, i'm still stuck between choosing to either buy a ded.warez server, and store all my files on there, or to have just bunch of gigs on free hosts where i'd have to fucking re-upload over and over agiain, and worry about some lame ass little kid leeching my links. The only problem is that if the server admin. my host, gets an e-mail from B.S.A. he would shut down my server. Well, didn't alibuba.com have his own server and shit like that? I wonder what happened.. he told me he just got sick of warez, even though he was probably rolling in the shit load of money he got from sponsors. Also, I think Club187.com, a warez site as well, which purchased numerous ded. servers for warez, I believe was arrested, I havent heard from the guy since then, anyone know what really happened? Because they're sending "Illegal files" from their computer, from their house, and from the line they pay for. The reason why we (warez webmasters) are not being sued is because we do not store files on our servers, we do not claim to have uploaded the files (thanks to snake for making that one clear : ), and we stay out of jail because of it. First and foremost, you couldn't afford the bandwidth fees and no compay would in their right mind host you. No no no, you missed the point. Companies such as Microsoft Piracy dept come along and e-mail you telling you to take down your site due to these illigal copies you have there etc etc. Now doing a runner when nothing is hosted on your site or your server is pointless, and you cannot take the files down if they are hosted on freespace, that's their problem.
I had Microsoft on my back, and I just pointed out that there was nothing illigal on my server and they could follow any link to it's destination and harrass the hosting company if they had problems, so I didn't have to take the site down. They then went to find something else and came back with "you have a serial number on your site, take the site down", so I removed the serial number, and told them, now there is nothing illigal there whatsoever. As there was nothing more they could say, they accepted this and thanked me for my co-operation and I didn't take my site down for a second.
So as long as you don't do anything to incriminate yourself, like posting serials, claiming you cracked the games yourself, claiming you uplaod all the warez yourself etc, then your safe.

I agree with you, warez is mostly about stealing, but it is also about providing lower class people, that might not ever even be able to afford the actualy program. It benefits mostly them, and thats what I am targeting. Some warez webmasters are only their for the "quick buck", others are there to actually help out. Even though most of the warez scene is on irc, and FTPs, not the web. I remember receiving an e-mail from someone oh, about a year and a half ago, (dont ask me why I remember) but the guy was stating how he downloaded a program from my site, which helped him expand his programming skills, and expertice, because of that he was able to receive a very high paying job, without warez the guy would probably not be able to afford the program, but since it's warez, and it's free! So, he got a good job, and no, this is not some Bull Shit that I fucking made up out of thin fucking air. Yeah, most warez webmasters are probably like 12 or 14, but hey, I started when I was 12, and I learned much from warez =] Oh ya, school hasn't started yet around here, for your information.. LOL

hey warez is free. but dont take advantage of it ya know. warez is for a fullversion trial period with all the features.

sure u can go to the products official page and download a trial demo. but hell u dont get to see all its features and what it does.. who wants to go buy a game for $50bux or so and not even know if your going to like it. or buy an application like 3d studio max for $5grand.. and u dont even know if ur going to like it..

a.) warez actually IS stealing but its not as unethically as most of u people think. I BED u all think the POOR POOR Companys loose Tons of bucks because of warez? TOTALLY wrong. Game & APP developers make SHITLOADS of money by selling their products. If warez woudnt exist they simply would make heaps more, thats why they want to take the warezbiz down.Also they simply count their LOSS by calculating all the downlaoded stuff and telling people that they would have sold THAT much copies of their programs too... What a bunch of bullshit.. It doesnt mean that just because i download something i actually would buy it for cash! You can compare the SAME thing into the MP3 bizness & NAPSTER program. Napster is great awesome, hilarious.. and now the fucking Metallica & Ria try to take this masterpiece down, even if it benefits also young artist that have a REAL chance to get known in the music world.
Ok ii guess i went of topic.. next point

b.) Warez actually make loads of cash and YES their is much money involved in it, still not as it used to be in the "golden days" 2-3 years ago but there is a fortune to be made. Just look at easywarez.com I know the webmasters Matt & Jake are plain said ASSHOLES and would even sell their parents for $$$ but they know on how to make bucks... Easywarez made and still makes alot of bucks considering it even used only bab-x sponsors on his page + the getpaid4surfing programs (where they actually get checks over 10.000 bucks/ month)

Warez surfers are mostly Kids so u simply need to TARGET the sponsorship.
if youre a 14-16 year old Kid you are CURIOUS and u probably DON`T have a CC right? Well DIALERS actually work great with them or clickthrough programs with no conversion ratio. Forget signup programs thats plain shit.

Also try to get some CUSTOM DEALS. For example we at www.bestofwarez.com (http://www.bestofwarez.com) got a deal with an MP3 artist and we placed his songs (trance for direct downloads) on our site. Alot of people like them and downlaod em + it helps him get up in the charts & gain more money. we made actually alot of cash with it (woudld have been more if we would have been bigger than 10k/ day http://adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/smile.gif)

c.) Warezwebmasters are NOT cheaters, assholes etc as most of you people think. They are NORMAL people trying to make cash out of somethign everybody visits and wants.. software. They get in touch with porn and slowly they will get into it (hey im talking from my experiences but i BED some of you came into the Porn biz through warez http://adultwebmasterinfo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif)
So Warez is nowadays also some sort of "Jumppad" into the Adult bizness.

In warez there are cheaters and in porn there are cheaters. Thast the way it actually looks like. I met many nice people in the warezbiz , some great marketers and some kickass C - Programmers and the whole thing gave me enough experience to get into the PORN biz where the money is but HEY im flexible now. We will start some commercial sites too and ill try to open my mind to as many ways as possible to gain all the knowledge necessary for the big bucks..
