I want to design an animation for one of my webpages but I need it as small as possible. I really need some questions answered:

1.) I have macromedia firewoks 4 and flash, which will creat a smaller animation?

2.) Will every visitor be able to see a flash animated banner?

3.) Is there anywhere that I could find tutorals on these two prodects and how to make a animated web graphic while keeping its size as small as possible?

to reply to part of your question... I dont think
everyone can see flash unless they have it on their
PC. Flash sure makes some nifty banners though

A message from the throne:
we use both of those programs. you can set the size to whatever you like. Most surfers can see flash if they have Ie 5 or greater. Macromedias web site will have your answers.

Just as a side note,

The stats at macromedia say that 95% of all internet users have the flash plugin. I would go so far as to say it's closer to 98% if you're using flash 4. The newest version 5 has been out long enough though so that most everyone has it.

As far as your other question:
It depends on if you're using alot of gradients and images. If you are go with the Raster(fireworks) image. If you're working mainly with type and shapes go for flash, it has an extremely small filesize if you're not using heavy gradients.
Hope this helps...

Mike.

you could make a animation in flash and export it as a GIF movie that should be the best compatibility and size for you.
