View Full Version : How important is ".com" when building a tgp?
I have an idea and name for a new tgp that I like but the .com name for it is taken, as well as the .net and .org.
I don't know of any successful tgp's that aren't .com.
ack, cant edit posts.
there's thehun.net, but he has thehun.com too ;-)

Just as an example, let's say you open worldsex.net and get to be popular with the surfers. I think you would find (apart from any possible legal repercussions) most of your type-in visitors would end up at worldsex.com.
People don't pay much attention and the majority will assume a dot-com ending and no hyphens. For bookmarks and your own or traded traffic there obviously shouldn't be any difference.

I'd say it is fairly important to have a good domain for a TGP, return visitors is where you make the money.
